That's because, although it can take a long time for a 'brick and mortar' business to become profitable, most traditional businesses do see some revenue coming in fairly quickly, despite that revenue being quickly swallowed up by expenses and overheads.

With an online affiliate marketing business however, in the first few early months, it is less likely to generate an income, and that is exactly why you need to have more patience. But don't lose faith in your website and your business. It's important to remain patient.

IT DOES NOT MEAN that your business isn't progressing successfully if you don't make money in the first 3-6 months, or even the 1st year.

What you can be absolutely certain about however, is that provided you are adding niche relevant and informative content onto your site regularly, you are building your business asset (your website), and your website will become more valuable every time you add more to it.

So if you ever feel yourself becoming impatient in the early months because the commissions or ad revenue isn't coming in, try to remember that what is most important is that you continue to grow your asset.

If you make some very early commissions, that's great, it's an awesome bonus, but the revenue isn't as important as it is if you rented a shop front for example.

Patience is probably the single most important attribute that is required to make your business into a reliable and consistent source of income for the long term.
