The Importance of a Plan

Going into month 5 of my journey here at WA. Feels longer in some ways, but way shorter in others.

I got my official Amazon Associates approval email this morning, so that feels like a big win! I don't think Amazon is going to be quite the right affiliate program for my niche, but I like having it as an option for other little things, accessories, etc. I'm glad I have my official approval so I don't have to stress about linking to Amazon as much with my 180 day deadline looming. Now I can just focus on linking there when it feels right to do so.

All that aside, I am finding the importance of having a plan. I always knew it was important, but even moreso now that I am realizing I am not as present with my two small kids as I would like to be.

I kept talking about only working during naptime or after the kids were in bed, but very rarely would I follow through with that. Instead, I'd try to give my website every spare moment possible, but it meant I was interrupted frequently and would get impatient with the kids.

Not only did it make me feel like a terrible mom, but trying to work on my website with divided attention doesn't always produce the highest quality results, either. As we all know, our websites are the type of thing that are never truly "done"...there is always more to do, a never ending to-do list to make it better and maximize results. There is always more promotion you can do, always more planning you can do, etc.

Not to mention other responsibilities around the house that I've been neglecting. My husband does more than his fair share and is great about it, but I feel pretty bad that I'm here all day but he comes home to a mess. I don't think coming home to a spic and span house is realistic, but I can definitely be better on keeping up with things like dishes and laundry.

All that to say, it's time I start truly implementing my plan. I've been talking about doing it forever, but would never follow through. Finally last night, I sat down and looked at lists of saved keywords I've created and did some new keyword research to decide what I wanted to write about for the week. Then I went into Site Content and started drafts for each one and created the outlines. I'm hoping that this will really maximize my efficiency during the week.

My plan is as follows:

Work during nap and after kids go to bed. If I can squeeze a little in before my husband goes to work in the morning, that's a bonus.

Monday: Start an article, watch one of Jay's webinars & take notes

Tuesday: Finish & publish article, promote, get comments

Wednesday: Start an article, watch a webinar & take notes

Thursday: Finish, publish, promote, comments

Friday: Send a newsletter to subscribers about my new articles from the week

Saturday: Start an article, work to apply notes from the webinars I watched earlier in the week

Sunday: Publish an article, promote/comments, fill up my Tailwind queue, do keyword research and decide on the 3 posts I am going to write the following week, create the outlines in Site Content to make my writing during naptime as efficient as possible.

There is my plan going forward. I hope this will really help me feel like I'm more in control and not running around with my head chopped off!

Now that sounds like a great plan to me! I'm sure it will work for you.

Hope you have a productive week,
Donna;)

Sure looks like a sound plan to me. Give it your best and review and improve as needed each week... Quite motivating to see an actual action plan.

having a plan definitely produces better focus and outcome - after all, if you don't know where you're trying to go how will you know when you get there! Now you have metrics to check off every week.... ✔️✔️✔️

Great job and thanks for sharing!

I feel the same way some days. Just can't stay focused... squirrel!!! Need to start writing a to do list to keep focused and not stray from the plan. Wishing you luck and continued success!!!

Superb Plan. Keep doing the Work. All the Very Best for you
