New Articles: Checklist Spreadsheet

The more things I learned at Wealthy Affiliate and on SEO in general, the more I felt the need to develop a checklist to make sure my new articles had all the features that lead to better rankings in Google.

That's why I created a Spreadsheet in which I listed all my articles/posts/pages (as top rows) and all the features my article should have (as top columns).

This allows me to make sure that all these features are present when I publish a new post. Here are the features I used as main columns in this "checklist spreadsheet":

- targeting competitive keyword (after doing research on Jaaxy and Google Keyword Tool)
- at least 1500 words but preferably more than 2000
- at least 4-5 headings
- helpful content
- engaging style
- grammar and spelling correction (I use ProWriting Aid Premium + Grammarly Free Version)
- keyword in the title
- keyword in the first paragraph
- featured image
- decorative images (no alt-text)
- alt-text for non-decorative images (screeshots, product's pictures etc.)
- meta title (max 60 words): keyword + some captivating line
- keyword in meta description (max 160 words)
- at least 1 external link (preferably a site with high authority)
- at least 1 internal link
- social media meta title, meta description and featured image (same as the regular ones)
- site speed check (desktop)
- site speed check (mobile)
- Google Search Console index request (both when publishing new content and editing old posts).

What do you think about this list? Is there something else you would add?

My main influences were Kyle's training course, magistudios' SEO videos and some other stuff I learned on WA and on other SEO advice websites.
