Take your time, I took several months as a starter member. I kept coming and going. Then one day it clicked for me and I realized this was home for me.

I am so sorry about your mom, I can't even imagine that type of pain. I am also sorry to hear about your traumatic brain injury. Just know that there will always be obstacles in life, but you can definitely overcome them if you believe.
Sometimes bad things happen to good people and it really sucks. You can turn your struggles into a positive and it can be an inspiring testimony to others who have or are currently going through similar situations.
Never give up on your dreams. It took me a very long time to be able to afford the Premium membership. There are a lot of free learning resources and videos you can check out on YouTube, I did that for a few years. I discovered WA over ten years ago, and I'm JUST now able to afford it (paid the yearly with my tax refund). I am only working minimum wage part-time at a beauty supply and struggled with addiction for over 11 years and am now 17 days sober.
I've battled depression for most of my life (since the 6th grade) and still dealing with the loss of my father and trying to get over narcissistic abuse I've endured.
Please never give up, you do not want to get to the end of your life and have more regrets than positive experiences. You are smart, you are capable, and you can and will accomplish your goals and dreams. It will be hard but so worth it. And you definitely do belong here, there are a lot of wonderful people here that will be glad to support you. All you have to do is reach out. Please hang in there, I'm rooting for you!

Be easy on yourself, Holly. Take all the time you need to figure this out. You don't need to upgrade now. You can stay on the free starter level as long as you need.

Hi Holly, you don't need to upgrade...there is no pressure. Get all the training and information you can as a starter member and just be like a sponge and interact with the community. You get a free education just reading posts.

Holly, "belong here" is limited to what you want out of it. I climbed in initially for the prospect of building an online business, which might come somewhere ahead, but at this moment I am going through the most awesome growth curve that you can imagine. I feel renewed because I am re-skilling for the future, and gathering incredible knowledge.
You might want something different, and then this place is not for you. I wouldn't dream of forcing you into it. But, for this 56yo it means I am not over the wall yet- I have much to look forward to for the next half a century!

Don't worry about the money now. You get 2 free websites with the starter membership. Use this opportunity to get them humming and maybe even providing you some earnings. You can remain a starter member as long as you like. You won't get bothered by WA to move up to Premium. Only do this when YOU are ready.
Just keep focused on the content to get traffic coming to your site. Earnings will follow.

There are many out there that could use guidance dealing with trauma and grief. I find experience is the best way to relate and help from a truly understanding point of view. Consider building a site around that.
You don't have to go Premium. There are many here who remain free Starter members. You can benefit from going Premium but it's not a requirement.
I urge you to stay.
