WA Brings It All Together - Updated

My professional passions center around helping others better themselves, but my primary focus is the children...particularly those who are misunderstood or misdiagnosed.

My Credentials

I have been an educator for more than 20 years with a Masters in Education, Exceptional Children and National Board Certification. I have taught as a high school resource teacher, a high school Emotional Behavior Disorder teacher, a transition teacher for students who are 18-21, a Behavior Specialist in grades K-12, and an adjunct instructor teaching Professional Certification courses. I am a certified trainer in Re-EDucation, Right Response, and Life Space Crisis Intervention.

My Story

This past year I had to take a Family Medical Leave of Absence to care for my son who was diagnosed with PANS, Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome. This illness is debilitating, horrific, and often goes undiagnosed or misdiagnosed, yet the National Institute of Mental Health projects that 1 in 200 children are affected by it. That's the statistical equivalence of Pediatric Cancer, Pediatric Diabetes Type ! and Type II. Additionally, the NIMH projects that as much as 25% of kids diagnosed with a mental illness are misdiagnosed and being mistreated. Parents report that half of kids with PANS are unable to attend school due to the significant symptoms that affect them. SO, life has sent me on a different trajectory. This year I am still home caring for my son, but I have this knowledge about behavior and kids, and how to meet their needs and I still want to share it. And, after countless hours of research on the brain and the effects of health and the gut on the brain, I now have knowledge about how the gut-brain connection can affect behavior and I want to share it. I have also learned to use essential oils as part of our family's healing process and I want to share that. I am writing a book about or experience and I want to share it. And, of course, I have to advocate for kids with PANS and raise awareness about this little known illness.

WA Brings it Together

As I tried to figure out how to make all of this fit together, I opened myself up to possibilities. I was introduced tot he idea of internet marketing and through my own research, I came across WA, where I can bring ALL of these avenues together, share information, help others transform their lives, help children get what they need to be happy and healthy, AND make an income while I'm at it. I thank the universe for bringing this to me when I wasn't sure where my direction was heading.
