If at first you don't succeed.try again.
After a long journey of learning how to build a word press website and deciding on a NICHE, things have evolved. I had several attempts on different niches but only until half a year into the game I found one that I am not running short on words in.
In fact, I am so passionate about it, that it is becoming not only a blog but also a new career path. (Which was the aim of doing this work here at WA anyway)
Wanna know what it is?

Clarity is key.I think the trick is to know what you want out of life. This young version of me looking at the finish line and knowing I will run as fast as I can and I will make it through the finishing line. But then I would just focus on every step I take right in front of me.
Almost forget about the finish line, because we all know it's the journey not the destination that counts.
So if you don't enjoy the journey, change it. Don't give up just change it. To me it was clear that I want to be a blogger and preferably make some money with it. A couple of years ago I didn't even know what blogging meant.
Blog? What, they are just writing. I had no emotions attached to the word blog. Well, that has changed and I can type faster and research more efficient and so on.
So, knowing that I wanted to work from anywhere in the world with the comfort of my laptop and while doing something I am 100% serious about. Giving up was is not an option.
I change it all and started again.I had bought a theme and worked on it for 3 months, kind of procrastinating and not being ready to just start making content.
"No, that doesn't look good". Or " Oh I have to change that".
Until one morning I said, screw it I have to put content out. I guess I wasn't very certain on my niche. Self-development was what I was writing about and it was also something I am passionate about and do every day. But it didn't feel authentic enough. Something was not right and I noticed that several month later I started to struggle to find content.
It hit me
While I was doing my morning run around the block. We live near a wildlife reserve and every morning I would run, I come back with both hands full of other peoples carelessly thrown away trash. Yep it's on my Instagram.
And then it hit me. I was getting so worked up about seeing our world oceans getting littered and being a kite surfer who's traveled the world I saw it all firsthand.
Plastic pollution is the niche. Educate the world on this tragedy. Demonstrate solutions to the problem and work my butt off to help make a difference.
I change the content on my websiteWhich was my self-development website was now going to be my plastic pollution website. After all I spend month on the design and I invested money into it too.
Was it a smart move? Well, because my following at the time was still pretty small I didn't mind so much if I lose some people due to the change of subject.
For me I am now writing twice a week and the more research I do the more I realize how bad we f#$^ed up. But I don't think it is too late.
Look at the ocean clean up project for example, there is a young man who is making a difference. We need more people that keep trying do make this world clean again.
I mean did you know that we have micro plastic in our drinking water? You most likely have plastic in your body.
We have to make a change now.
Please join me on my journey and avoid single-use plastic as much as you can. Bring your own shopping bag and have a reusable coffee cup in your car.
Those are habits we can change really easy and the planet will thank us.
I thank WA and this community for the help and sup[port. Without you guys I wouldn't be doing what I am doing now.
Forever grateful. Hendrik from whenlovehitsthefan.com
