Best Pizza by-the-slice in New York City

I love New York pizza. And who doesn't ?

I have enjoyed this wonderful Italian satisfying food ever since my teen years.

Of course, back then was really cheap and now a days not so much.

I travel often to NYC and love to eat some pizzas to recover my strength after walking all over town.

I have eaten at Lombardi's , the first pizzeria in the USA.

I enjoyed it at Pizza Lovers near Sixth Ave. in New York /

And a few weeks ago at Tavola in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan.

However eating pizza by the slice is a totally different experience since one slice is piping hot and cheaper.

It is also a great way to enjoy the New York scene.

I love to wash down my slice with a pina colada.

Here is a review of a famous pizzeria I hope to visit nin my next trip.

Of course you can find pizza by the slice all over the city.

MANHATTAN:

Joe’s Pizza

Joe’s slice offers ($2.25) a worthy balance between its slightly sweet sauce, cheese, thin crispy dough and gorgeous yellow with red appearance. This little spot, in the middle of everything, is like a pizza respite in a sea of cacophony and its slices are always hot and fresh due to the high number of customers passing through. No matter that about a thousand people are walking by, grab a tiny seat if you can, or stand up like the regulars then enjoy a mighty fine slice of Manhattan. Joe’s is the best in Greenwich Village and there are many to choose from. A classic NY slice. Cash only.

Pizza was our plan when we went but it didn't happen. We ended up at the Starlight Diner and it was fun. I am, however, now hungry for that slice of pizza and ok, a pina colada too. :-)

Hey Hector,

I worked in NYC for several years. Joe's is a classic. I've eaten there several times.

You should also check out some of the pizza places on 8th and 42nd (right near Port Authority). You can get great slices for 99 cents in several of those pizza places. They offer a package deal two slices and a soda for something like $2.50 if I remember correctly. And because the pizza moves so fast at that price, the slices are always fresh.

Best Regards,
Jim
