So How Does Fear Affect Our Ability to Succeed?
You know the funny thing about us as human beings is that we all at some point in time experience Fear. So, what exactly is fear and how does it affect our ability to succeed? As a motivational author throughout my writing career, this is a subject that I have written about often.
First and foremost allow me to insert here a quote from Franklin D Roosevelt which by the way is often misquoted as "we have nothing to fear but fear itself." But the actual quote went like this, and was delivered within his first inaugural address where he actually said,
"So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is...fear itself — nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance."
In a nutshell or in my opinion, fear is better defined using the acronym F.E.A.R. "False Evidence Appearing Real." You see fear only exists in our minds and it involves things that could possibly happen or go wrong what is the worst case scenario? Well that is FEAR.
