Getting Ready to Retire
As a teacher, I love what I do. I have always enjoyed seeing the light go on as a student "finally gets it"
But all good things must come to an end. So, I prepare to retire and move on to the next phase of my life.
But, so many friends have asked me, "well what are you going to do when you finally retire?"
Well, all I can say is not what I am doing right now.
I have however spent that last almost 45 years of my life being self-employed, and through those years I have amassed a considerable amount of knowledge in the field of marketing, and although I only used it for my own business purposes up until this point, it would be a shame to let all that knowledge simply fall into the abyss.
So, I thought long and hard about my future before I explained to my family that I would not be leaving the house at the butt crack of dawn and returning well after dark everyday going out to work, and was going to take an early retirement. But I sure as heck am not going to be sitting on my duff doing nothing of any value to myself or the rest of the world.
So what does one do? Well the search was on.
I have however spent the last couple years doing a lot of writing, and have nearly 50 books to my credit in my Kindle Publishing account (mostly in the self-help genre). So I guess one could say that I love to write as well. Gee, maybe I will write for a living.
That sounded like a great idea to me, so I thought some more and queried myself as to what type of writing would I enjoy doing the most? Well, I like research and have become quite proficient at writing effective ad copy, so why not do some freelance copywriting?
So here we have it. Copywriting it is!
I would love to help some aspiring entrepreneurs and give them the helping hand I was fortunate enough to get from a dear friend and mentor when I was a young man. This exercise will allow me to hone my skills to the next level, so if you are looking for a guest blogger on your blog let's open up the lines of communication and see if we can somehow work together.
Why not PM me and see what we can come up with.
But we always need to give credit where credit is due so my image for this post comes from:

And before anyone jumps on me no I am not promoting it just simply attributing the image. Thank you.

Sounds great that you can retire and yet still have some great goals in mind. All the best to you as you retire.

Thanks, Doug,
Retirement is not the end just merely a new beginning. At 60+ still way too young for the boneyard.
That is such a great attitude towards life. I need to get back on my feet soon as I have a broken foot for the last 12 weeks I haven't worked feels like I took a small sabbatical from work. All the best in your journey here.
