What I have learnt this week?
I have started taking a online course for personal growth as I believe and have learnt that it is key to achieving my goals. The biggest lesson learnt so far is to be present all the time in any situation that I am in.
Ask yourself, What is my presence in this moment, on a scale of 1-10?
If you say a 3 than you need to turn off the phone, tune into the person or situation you are in and become a 10. When are presence in any given situation is 8,9,10- than we are giving a sense of ourselves to the moment. Our minds are not wandering and drifting onto other subjects. The people we are with or interacting with will feel that presence and become more engaged in the moment as well. Loving relationships will grow deeper and more intense. Work relationships will run smoother and more cohesive. Friendships will reach a depth you probably never thought they could be.
Am I a master of thought, NO!
My mind used to be all wrapped up in the next thing to get done in my day. I was missing all those small moments in between the big ones because I was checking emails, facebook, and constantly prospecting while with my children. So when they pushed back, acted out or didn't produce the result that I was looking for why was I surprised. If I am not engaged and present why should they be.
So starting today, I made a goal for myself that in every situation that I am in, I will be asking myself "What is my presence level?" . I will be focused on each conversation, I will be focused when playing with my kids, I will put my phone down and walk away from it so that the chatter stops in my head.
Its funny how things creep up on you, because we are excited about an outcome..but than we put so much into an outcome that when it doesn't go the way we thought, we are devastated. Be more present and your results and productivity will start to show.
