Stress Junkie

I've been quiet lately. Thank you for all the warm welcomes to the WA club. I usually respond; however, I am sharing that I have been going through some health matters recently that cause concern! My first stomach ulcer...and it is no joke. It is a condition that can be life threatening. If left untreated, it may lead to bleeding and a plethora of other health problems. I've been unknowingly dealing with a bleeding ulcer for a month. I'm a healthy eater, vegetarian, and work out regularly. I am not obese by any means. No other medical conditions like diabetes or other serious problems. So how does this happen to me?

STRESS!

However, the good news is that there are ways to treat them and keep them at bay, and no one is really immune to the effects of stress, and I wanted to share a bit of information about this condition that I have learned.

The first step is to recognize that an ulcer is something that you should take very seriously. In the end, the most important step is to consult your doctor and follow their advice.

I consulted, took many tests, and found out my liver toxicity number is through the roof. My doctor tells me I need to stop drinking so much alcohol. Well, doc, I don't drink! Now comes a major raise for concern!

How does one who doesn't drink and leads a healthy life get diagnosed with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease ON TOP of a bleeding ulcer?

STRESS! STRESS AND MORE STRESS!

There are many possible causes of a gastrointestinal disorder such as ulcers. Besides the usual suspects, such as smoking, alcohol, and diet, STRESS will make a HUGE contribution!

One of the best ways to protect yourself from an ulcer is to eat a well- balanced diet. You should also avoid smoking and drinking too much alcohol. For instance, you should also try to minimize the amount of sugar you consume. This includes coffee, juices, and sodas.

Working out is OK as long as you listen to your body and don't push your limits. In addition to weights, I'm doing YOGA now to help calm my mind. I have given up coffee! This is the hardest! I ❤️ COFFEE!!

Aspirin, Tylenol, Ibuprofen all contribute to your liver function, and not in a good way! No more!

The medical community has made a number of advances in treating gastrointestinal disorders.

A stomach ulcer may be a minor inconvenience, but it is still a medical condition. The best way to treat it is to eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, watch what foods and drinks you intake, and by all means, find ways to reduce your stress level!

If you listen to your body and something doesn't seem right, get to your doctor!

I'm on the initial road to better health, but it will take up to 6 weeks to heal this ulcer, and fatty liver disease? Well, it's treatable, but until I know more after tons of tests, my goal is to KEEP CALM!

If you're a stress junkie, it is exactly what it means. JUNK for your well-being! Discard it as quickly as you can to avoid health problems.

Stay healthy and stress free, my friends!

Erica

You are welcome Holly!

Hi Holly, wow. Thanks for sharing. You are right about stress. I hope you will be ok. I had them when I was younger. I know they were from stress. Take it easy.

Thank you Brenda! Stress is a literal killer! I'm just glad I have SOME answers.

When I worked at the bank, I had three stomach ulcers at one time. I was dizzy from it, I was under s huge amount of stress.. You must take care of yourself.

Wow! Three? I have been in similar stress inducing environments with a Corporate career, but I guess at 52 now versus 32 or 42, my body is telling me NO MORE!

I hope you get better soon, Holly! Hang in there, my friend!

Jeff🙏

Thank you Jeff!

You're very welcome, Holly!

Jeff
