I Don't Make Mistakes Often

...but when I do, I realize that I didn't.

Okay, that is meant to be funny and clickbait so that you would read here. The last time I tried humor in my blog, it did not land. It floated. So, please do not respond with admonishments to be humble.

This post is about my current niche and why I am choosing another.

A few months ago, I asked in one of the classes, “Is it possible to run out of keywords?” The answer was “no.” I was told that in addition to writing about my niche, I could also write product reviews. I should also continue to use Jaaxy for researching keywords.

I am currently promoting elderberry as a health supplement because my mission is to offer tools to help people boost their immune systems and live healthy lifestyles.

I, later, wrote a blog about why I felt I was running out of keywords. I received many suggestions and comments. Many people sent lists of possible keywords.

Even though I appreciate the suggestions, a lot of the keywords offered did not address elderberry use as a health supplement. For those that did, the traffic for them amounted to little or nothing. Or, I had already blogged those keywords.

I have written blogs for keywords that get some traffic and for some that do not.

Here Is What Is Significant About Elderberries

They are very high in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. They are rich in anthocyanins and protect cells from free radicals. They have been used for centuries to ward off sickness and disease.

In almost every blog, I am promoting the supplemental use of them as syrup, juice, gummies, tincture, or tea. Telling my audience the benefits is important so that they will know how it helps.

Once I give this information, there is not much new that I can write about elderberries. So, the same information is repeated regarding the benefits...though I add images and change the style and wording.

I say to myself, “Self! Perhaps Google does not see anything new in your posts from others on the internet because once you give information about elderberry benefits, you're repeating it in each post.”

It must be the same with other bloggers and elderberry sites because the medicinal benefit of elderberries is in the public domain.

Consequently, most of my posts have not been indexed. Insert sad face here.

I am in two affiliate programs because Amazon dropped me. (Good riddance to them.) I have found but one other. I have written product reviews for everything that they sell using elderberries.

I have had wise counsel from a few more experienced affiliates who agree that I, alas, have chosen a very narrow niche and one that is less profitable. In the profound wisdom of TheCatherine, some niches are more profitable than others.

The suggestion that appears to be the path that I will now venture along is to expand on elderberries to healthy living. In doing this, I will be able to use my blogs from my current website. I feel encouraged and excited about this decision.

I have been advised to review everything that Partha and many others have posted regarding keywords and writing content. I am in the process of doing that.

My mental acuity is in overdrive as my revised journey continues. Please wish me well on this new path.

Hello Hazel, I am having issues with keywords as well. You hit it on the head that we sometimes have used the exact keywords.

So I am also researching keywords to see where I am messing up.

Good luck to you. I am sure we will figure it out.

Have a great evening!

Chet

Hey Chet!
I was advised to read Partha's blogs...specifically how he researches keywords. I am in the process of reviewing them now. I have not read this one as I started with how he structures to write content. Anyway, here is the link if you are interested.

You're correct, we will figure it out as long as we persevere with the right information. Rooting for your success. Hazel

Thanks, Hazel!

Welcome, Chet!

I wish you well in the expansion, Hazel! I've had elderberry wine before, did you look into that? I'm sure you likely did!

I think your decision might make this a bit better!

Best success to you either way.

Jeff

I appreciate you as always, Jeff. I have posted about elderberry wine, even though it does not come under the heading of health supplement. Even though some may debate this. I wrote the blog just for fun, and because I felt I was starting to run out of keywords.

Thank you!

Nothing wrong with that, Hazel! I think you have garnered some good responses!

Jeff

Hi - I have to say, that I still think your niche has potential.

The domain name simply mentions elderberry, nothing to do with its health benefits.

When you asked about this previously, you were given dozens of topics to write about.

So, if you were to move away from the health aspect, rewrite your About Me page to say the site is about everything elderberry related, you would have enough material for hundreds of posts!

And as regards traffic, two things to remember.

First of all, keyword tools are not completely accurate.

And they are based on historical data.

If you think of a keyword and you look in Google and people are asking about it, then there is clearly an interest.

And secondly, each post you write could rank for dozens of keywords, not just the one you are targeting.

I'm just concerned that if you switch to healthy living, that you will randomly flit from one topic to another and not build up authority in anything.

Whereas now, you could be an expert in everything about elderberries!

Just my opinion, of course, and I wish you luck!

Diane,
Once again you have been helpful and insightful. I appreciate you and the time you have taken to comment and offer your advice.

Thanks very much!

It's all about trial and error. All your lessons learnt will turn into a WIN. Keep going, you have got this!

Ps: A tip I could give you is to look at popular herbal supplements that are in high demand already and upscale this, add your flare to it 😎

Hello there!

It's very nice of you to comment and offer your tip. Thanks for doing so!

Hazel

Hi Hazel! I’m sure you’ll figure it out as you go. Don’t sweat it! Best wishes as you branch out.

Susan

Thank you, Susan. I appreciate your wishes!

Hazel

You're very welcome, Hazel. Have a great day!
