Perplexity enters the AI forum
Just when the world seemed normal, a new AI player comes onto the market .
Not unlike ChatGPT, it has more recent data and several advantages, plus a big price advantage .
Perplexity is designed by three AI writers and a Meta Pro, using all the research of the pioneers to bring on something new. Every new technology launch needs a heavy hitter behind it and this one has Jeff Bezos throwing in his share. Anything to compete with Elon Musk.
The first benefit of Perplexity is its ability to provide precise, factual answers by searching the internet in real time and citing reliable sources. This is not going back to data that is two years old.
Next, another standout feature of Perplexity is its ability to cite the sources it uses to answer queries.
In addition to its impressive capabilities, Perplexity also offers a more cost-effective solution compared to ChatGPT. With Perplexity Pro costs $20 per month and includes Chat-4 for free.
However, there is a free version that will suit most writers.
I use the Hubs writer at Wealthy Affiliate as my main scribe because it produces better work than the others but it does not have a research function. It is a great writer, but there it stops.
For many research problems Chat -3 is OK, but this takes a new step forward. My first blog using Perplexity got an SEO writing score of 92 using Yoast score markings.
I could have played around a bit to get higher but it answered the question and presented a good argument.
Anyone using AI in any way needs to have a look and play and make up their own mind on its abilities. Mine is made up.

Hi Peter
Yes, Perplexity is an interesting AI alternative.
Don’t get too comfortable with the accuracy of its content just because it’s quoting resources used, especially with more technically-based prompts. There can still be incorrect interpretation at play.
A few weeks ago, a medical student and I were playing around with Perplexity in the hospital. It quoted two medical journals in its answer, but several conclusions were inconsistent with the best clinical outcome.
ChatGPT will often give you its resources if you specifically ask it to do so, although they are typically from Wikipedia. However, it does depend on the niche.
I believe the latest iteration of OpenAI is much more up to date, which is the version that WA is still beta testing.
I find that creating custom GPTs in ChatGPT4 gives me much more targeted and accurate results.

Thanks for this! I had the HUBS AI Pro writer write an article just last night. I picked one of the suggestions the HUB offered. The title began “10 Reasons Why”.
It wrote the outline… hmm didn’t reference any “10 Reasons why”.
Why???? Has anyone else had a problem like this?
You may have addressed this in the optional content area before you let it create your outline. Furthermore, you can edit your outline as well before you ask it to prep you the text. You are in control here :)
Hey Peter,
Just had a look at it. I'm keen to give it a try, mainly because of the - real-time and citing reliable sources - feature.
Many thanks for sharing this application.
