ANZAC Day 2019
In Australia today 25 April we commemrate those of The Australian and NewZealand armed forces that were involved in all the wars since WW1.
Don't get me wrong, I believe all wars are terrible and even today we still have not learned of the consequences of hate and retribution.
I missed fighting in Vietnam in a raffle for places in the Army.
The government of the day bought in 2 years compulsory service for those turning 18 years old and born on certain days of each month.
There was no choice and I understand similar happened elsewhere.
I would have been a terrible soldier, I don't take orders well and I hate stupidity and dying for the sake of the fight.
My Grandfather on my mothers side was called up at the end of WW 1.
He was a railway engineer and sent to France to help repair the rail network.
He contracted a virus within days of arriving and died in Hospital leaving behind a wife and 2 year old daughters. RIP
Why can't it be over in a civilized world?
Japan, North Korea, USA, Russia all arming up in case someone throws stones at them.
Let alone the middle East a basket case at best.
I don't celebrate war but I do remember,

We do need to remember, especially those that are gone. I wonder if war is necessary just to keep the population in balance. I sure wish we could become civilized not to need wars. It is so cave-man primal, to go out and kill people just because they are in a different place.
Remembering previous wars and conflicts as they like to call them these days are horrific and sad yet it will be that way because of the way we humans are created. We can hope for a sense of peace within ourselves, and give peace to others daily along with grace and forgiveness. In this way, we also do our part to assist.
