Hi,
I'm creating a local site which highlights attractions in the area. Im seeking a WordPress theme that allows me to list recreation activities on the left hand side of sc

If you do the training all this is explained that is what we pay for

all themes will allow you to display categories - they are created in posts categories in your wordpress dashboard.
what you might like to look at is the astra theme and install their starter site package.
good luck
phil

I don't think I'm explaining what I'm trying to do. I know all the wp themes can create categories. I'm looking for left had side static while main screen changes. For instance:
Current Local Activities :

Concerts
Blues
Gospel
Rock and Roll

Outdoor Activities
Camping
Mountains
10-20 miles from here
20-50 miles from here
Piedmont area
Seaside
NC beaches
Wrightsville Beach
Ocean Isle
SC beaches
Myrtle Beach
Hangliding
Hiking

Watersports
Boating
Sailboats
Pontoon boats
Fishing

so put a category widget into your left sidebar in your theme
try out generatepress theme to be able to create dual sidebars and be able to turn them off on any article.

set up a couple of test siterubix site to try out things rather than changing your main site - this way you can transfer what you do to your main site and oick the best o what you do.

Ok who can I pay to have someone set this up ?

Are people are available for hire here on WA?

you can do this is a few minutes
goto appearance - customize - widgets
and then click on the sidebar you want to change - you see the changes realtime, but are not changed online till you click on publish at the top.
click on add widget and scroll down to categories and double click on it.
this will add it to the list in the sidebar.
you can then drag it to the position you want it
add a title if you want to
and click on publish

you need to set up your categories before hand to see them
this i under posts categories
you can add categories undermain categories by adding them as child categories to the main one you want it under.
sounds confusing but start a test site and have play - you will very quickly get the hang of it.
