Stress is Silly!

I’m not usually a big fan of seeing myself in pictures! I just never look the way I imagine myself to. But I have to say, I really like this picture. In it, I’m standing on Canyon Road in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I was on vacation with my youngest son, my brother, and my nieces and nephew. Santa Fe is one of my favorite spots, it’s beautiful and cool (almost always a welcome respite from the Texas heat), and it’s also “cool” as in, laid back. I was feeling NO STRESS, and that’s very important. In fact, stress is high on my list of DISlikes. I’ve had several lifetimes worth of it in my 54 years and I don’t want any more. Stress is debilitating, causes disease, solves nothing……stress is just SILLY. I dislike stress so much that I left my job with the US Postal Service after 23 years as a City Letter Carrier. People told me I was nuts and maybe I was! But it’s difficult to think clearly when you’re under the type and amount of strain that I was feeling. I just couldn’t function in that way any longer, so I jumped ship. I’m sure some of you can imagine what that journey has been like. I lost almost everything in that transition; my apartment, my car, my income, relationships, etc. However, the one thing I didn’t lose is my sanity. I describe the early part of that journey as a free-fall. But what people often don’t realize is that in the midst of free-fall, there IS falling……but there is also FREEING!!! And if the situation is stressful enough to force an abrupt exit, freeing is sometimes much more important than a graceful exit. It took many, many precious years for me to regain some semblance of control in my life. And in spite of the fact that I experienced a tremendous amount of growth in the process, I must say emphatically, I DON’T RECOMMEND my method of transition out of the rat race! It just isn’t necessary!!! Which brings us to the reason why you’re here, on my website, reading about stress. So many of us have an inherent belief that stress is a necessary component of success, particularly financial success. However, thanks to the wonderful system at Wealthy Affiliate, it is simply not necessary. In fact, it’s silly! So, trust the forces that brought you here! It’s not a mistake and you’re not alone. I am just about there with jumping ship from my job. I won't do it until I have enough income coming in, but I do feel like you did!

I left to save my sanity and my health! I was so stressed out that I literally woke up one morning and COULD NOT go to work. I was in the midst of a major depression with no energy to think straight. I could have filed for disability, but that would have meant continuing to deal with the whole thing. Nope. Like I said, I jumped ship.....and I really can't say that I regret it. But I also hope that I can help others forge a different path.
Can't wait to hear that you're ditching the 9 to 5. It's great that you're getting close and wise that you're waiting.

Thanks! I can't wait!

Not only it is silly but highly overrated. We make him look so important. I never even met the guy. But if I do, I will just give my piece of mind. Thank you for that post-Regina and it is a great picture.
