A touch of the old rugged west

My love for the old west has been a life long adventure. It all started out when I use to watch the old western movies while sitting with my Grandfather. Years later I settled near Denver Colorado with thoughts of bringing the old west back. My main goal was to build miniature pieces from the old west.. I designed and constructed many relics from that old pioneer era.To my surprise they looked like they came right off the dusty rocky trails of the West. One of my beauties is on display at a museum.. I place each board individually on the coach of over 200 pieces. All my pieces look rustic. They look like they came right out of a rough cutting sawmill. You know the one sawmill that has a blade missing every other tooth, creating large grooves. Special knicks strategically placed to duplicate the treturous weather of the upper Rockies. The wheels have the appearance of worn out slightly bent greasy spokes. I try to bring all of this back into that miniature form where they have been placed on many tables, shelves and podiums. I have had them in stock shows, many craft shows . I also use a technique in the fading of the paint. I bring all this together and shine them with Resin and Hardener . It brings that well needed durability . I wanted to share something I knew from my heart so you can see the passion that I have in my first blog by sharing my art of woodworking.
