Tired To The Point Where My Efforts Are Waisted

Tiredness is something we all get and I am curious to know how long others can work for until they need a break. My wife has insisted I take breaks far more often and tells me that I get far too intense if I stay too long on the computer.

I have always felt that 'cyber time' is a different type of time where it goes very fast and sometimes it can take hours to achieve very little. I guess this is all down to the self discipline that we must have if we want to be effective.

I remember reading once that to work anymore than 40 hours a week is a waste of time because you become too tired to really make a difference. I have to say that I agree and when one is fresh then a lot can be achieved,so work when you are performing and recognize when the energy is low and take a break.

We can drive ourselves too hard sometimes and begin to forget why we are working in the first place. Is it not for a better quality of life? It's sad when some swap the drudgery of a job for self employment only to get trapped into something similar.

One of our problems is not taking a break from the computer, it keeps demanding much of you until you feel burnt out. Not good.

You are right. I get so involved I don't want to take a break although I need one.

Try setting a timer for an hour at the most and when that timer goes off, get up and walk around a bit. Close your eyes, too, for a few minutes, so you can rest them. If you haven't been able to write anything for that hour, it may be better to take a break if you can and do ssomething completely different.

I understand what you're saying about the drudgery. I think that is to be expected in learning anything new. This year I'm trying to be more mindful of how I'm spending my time and working to be more disciplined and to be a better steward of my time. The nice thing is you're working for yourself; the bad thing is you're working for yourself. This means you have to face yourself in the mirror every day and report what you did, and sometimes we give ourselves too many breaks. ;-)

Best of success to you. Listen to your wife. She sounds like a smart lady.

Thank you for the sound advise and yes we are only accountable to ourselves when we look in the mirror. All the very best to you.

Your wife is a wise women. I would take at least a 10 minute break every 1.5 hrs just to get up and move around and rest your eyes. But however many hours you decide to spend online, the most important thing is to make sure that you are using them efficiently. Most people could cut down the amount of time they spend (me included)

Yes she is wise. I have noticed a big change since the holiday break and I am far more relaxed about things generally. Thanks for your added advise it is really appreciated.

I absolutely agree! I love sundays at 6 am he he. First thing in the morning I am so fresh. Late at night I make huge mistakes. Everyone is different I suppose.

Yes its very subtle and easy to deceive oneself when tired that you are doing well but the reality is we are making complete c***ups of things.

I totally agree and I will ad this. I'm at my lesson #2 where I have to write my contents on each page. So one would think, it might take from 30min to maybe a couple of hours right? Well, I've already been here for 2 hours and haven't written a single word. Why cause I get caught up in researching through the internet on my subject.

One would say I've wasted 2 hours and haven;t done anything. But I must tell you that now I think I can write my text in less than 30min.

Everything you do is for a reason and it will catch up. Your efforts will be proven gold. Just take your wife's advice and rest.

Hope I didn't tire you out even more!!!

lol ......no you haven't tired me out more because I get your point if you are moving in the right direction then nothing is really wasted. Thanks for that :)

you're right, we need to give ourselves a break once in a while. I have back problems, so I have to get up and stretch quite often. I also know it can take a lot of time with reading/research, adding content to our website, social media plus the time in the WA community. I think it's a matter of setting a schedule for the different functions.

Yes self discipline is a real requirement. I read that very successful people are always very well organised and know how to leverage their time.

Greg - Great site, especially the mindset mastery section. Looking forward to seeing more there!

Our society has created a normalcy around 1. having a job and 2. there are no other options (that are taught anyway). School and most parents teach us that we finish college, get a job, work 'til we retire, and die. The awakening that many people come to happens when they are dissatisfied with their position in life and choose to do something about it.

Tired is both physical and a state of mind. The 40 hour work week is one benchmark of tired, and most people relate how much they got done to how tired they are at the end of the day. Talk about a skewed reality...

Thanks for the positive comment on my site. I have a good way to go with it,but have it formed in my mind how to build it out.
Yes we have been deliberately conditioned from an early age but it's up to us to wake up and discover our power to create the life we want.
