First sale and first goal reached!
A while back I wrote a short post regarding my first monetary goal with affiliate marketing. My first goal was to earn a single dollar. That's it.
After having set ridiculously high goals with money in the past and failing to get even close, I decided that I was going to change my strategy this time.
I felt that if I set a small but believable goal, it would motivate me to keep pushing. I mean after all, it's just a dollar right?
Well, I can now report that my strategy has worked to help me hit my first target. As I casually checked my e-mail today, I saw an e-mail from one of my affiliates. I didn't think much of it at first as I typically receive a fair amount of e-mails from this particular company.
The e-mail said something about a conversion and at first I wasn't getting it. I opened the e-mail and had to read it several times before I finally understood. I finally had received a commission on my first sale!
A real sale. The truth is that this is not technically my first commission that I've earned through affiliate marketing.
About three weeks ago, I got an e-mail from one of my affiliates letting me know that I had earned a commission on a sale. I was so excited that it took me about five minutes to realize that I had somehow made a purchase through my own affiliate link and the commission was on my purchase LOL. Way to go Dan.
I had to assure myself this time that I have not made any recent purchases from this company and this is in fact, my first legitimate sale.
I do not know who made the purchase but if you are reading this I cannot thank you enough.
The amount I earned on this sale is $4.05. That's a whole 4 times more than my initial goal. Now in the grand scheme of things, it's not very much money but it represents more than just money for me.
This may be the most exciting $4.05 that I've ever made. This is the first time that I have made money online despite trying for the better part of two years. It's a huge block that I feel I got through. I was starting to think it was impossible.
Aside from a small real estate deal I did, this is the first time that I have earned money outside of my current W-2 job in over 5 years. That's huge to me. No bosses. No annoying co-workers. Nothing.
It's a very small step in the direction of proving to myself that I can indeed earn my own income independent of the typical job.
The funny thing is that this happened shortly after I put my goal into writing. Writing your goals down is so important. I find that my goals always get met after I put them in writing.
I realize in the grand scheme of things, this is a very minor sale but it definitely proves to myself that I have made the right decision to join Wealthy Affiliate and get into affiliate marketing.

Your first commission is always the most important one, Gordon, regardless of amount.
What it gives you is proof that the system works if you do.
Keep going and there'll be many more and much bigger.
Well done - onwards and upwards!
Cheers

Thanks Rich:)
