I'm building a social site for my niche and have a few members to test it with ... I want to get things sorted quickly as it's about to explode.
Okay apparently buddypress sucks but has anyone tried bbphp and thier social network?

afaik it's a forum that's more feature filled than bbPress. Did they add some social stream action to phpbb?
I've looked at the phpbb social setup and it's not well rated by testers compared to BuddyPress.

I just want to know the DNS addresses and the locations to change my url to be hosted on the WA webserver. Is it that complicated and hard to find that information?
Why does everyone make this so complicated?

Regarding Lesson 7 => Okay .... maybe this is where I'm confused. Why are you using keywords only 275 people search for a month and there's almost no sites? Wouldn't that
If you can find high search, low competition KW, go for it.
But 5 200 monthly searches on no competition KW = 1000 people.
If you target a high search KW and you don't rank first page, you will more than likely get 0 traffic from that keyword.
At least by using low search KW you get SOME traffic.
Hi Rob, as Steve said already, one of the main reasons is to make it easier to get on that first page of Google. One way to take advantage of that is that once they are on your site, you can have a link to an article with a much tougher to rank keyword. That way you have a chance to engage them for a longer period of time on your website, and may help them decide to bookmark for a return visit. If instead you go for the keywords with thousands of searches, you may have a very hard time to even rank at all where anyone will see your links. The theory is that the end result of low searched keywords will be: 1. more people will most likely see your site. 2. and the number of page one rankings will help establish your site as an authority on that niche. Best wishes on your endeavors.
As Steve said - it is the cumulative effect. It's also no good if you can't get ranked for a competitive word - however, many searches there are.
I'm not opposed to Steve's advice it just seems very limited to me. As I said, perhaps this is my failure point but wouldn't a higher keyword (6000 a month) with low to medium competition be better? Maybe I misunderstood the lesson and he's just adding a few extras to pick up the "lost sheep". I don't know so that's why I'm asking.
Little competition means it is easier to rank for. 275 searches may not sound like much but, if you have 100 pages/posts on your site getting 275 searches each, it adds up big time!

I have memories (mediocre ones) of using Buddypress 5-6y ago. Seems a bit better now.
