To Comment Or Not

Hello WA Rockstars,

So We have a pretty rockstar comment section that has been revised. I spend a lot of time in there giving comments. If you haven't or rarely do I encourage you to use it.

So last night as a lot of us saw this new section, I read a post from a great member here talking about it. The thing that jumped out at me was he had shared he was not going to be using comments on his site anymore.

My wheels started turning do I really need comments for my site for it to make it in the web world. I searched some sites in my niche and saw many without a comment section and doing well. The thought I have ranked articles and trust with Google can I spend more time doing other things for my site If I took away comments.

Now don't get me wrong I will always be giving comments here, I love to help with that and I enjoy reading everyone's articles and seeing their sites grow. Not to mention I learn a lot of new things reading all the great articles.

So for me it's something to ponder and think about.

Rock your Journey,

David

To comment or Not. I will have to do some research on this. I spent the better part of my day commenting and getting comments. Oh what is a girl or guy to do???

Yes that is the question.

Interesting. Being new here, and going through the training, I came to believe that comments are crucial for success. This alternative of no or fewer comments would certainly free up a lot of time. Worth further investigation. Cheers.

Hmmm...interesting thought. It would definitely free up some valuable time.
I’ll have to check out the new improved version and then make up my mind.
Thanks David!

You're welcome

Sounds good. Can you post the link to that rockstar comment section?

Just go to site manager and click on site comments up top will take you there.

Thank you.

You are helping people in your business. If people have questions or comments, how can you not answer?

I'm helping them with my articles. Something to think about.

I need to go check it out!

You'll definitely like it

To be honest I totally get where you are coming from. I remember when I first started I thought the sitecomments and feedback was a cool feature still do.

I just never actually used it, this is mostly because I was more focused on writing for my site and other online business stuff (funnels, social media ext.) that I just never actually paid any mind to the feature.

I have commented on a few when I had the free time. Since I am gone from 330am to 530pm I have such a small window of time I just felt it was more worth my time working on my business then being social on here or commenting and giving feedback on others sites.

I do love helping others whenever I can. So I might use the feature in the future but right now I am more focused on my stuff if you know what I mean?

Thanks for the share I do hope the best

Matt

Yes time can be tough to find for many so when you do have the time you want to work on your site.
The new comments section will hit a homerun and I believe more are going to start using it.

It's a good question. Right now I honestly don't know the answer.
I both my niche site and my bootcamp site - the top ranked articles have 100-300 comments each, so I know that there is value in there somewhere.
Comments take a long time - both to give and to reply to. I can often write a brand new post in the amount of time that it takes to give and take a whole bunch of comments.
I am on the fence on this one and looking forward to read other people's answers as well.

Yes I definitely sit on the fence as well.

This is an interesting subject. I think allowing comments really helps to develop a sense of community around the topic, and encourages more engagement with the post of course. But I too have spent a lot of time managing pending comments. Perhaps something to think about once a site has steady traffic? Something to consider implementing on older material?

I think I would leave my comment section open but let it be for the traffic I get.

That makes sense. I guess one of the main benefits of the give and take comments here is that it makes your site look more alive and established than otherwise. But I definitely agree it takes a lot of time that could be spent working on the project instead.

Thanks for sharing, David.

You bet.
