So when I first started this journey out, I decided I needed a change in my life. I did this because I'm unhappy with my current job and financial situation, and lets face it, the only person who can change that is me.

The problem is that I don't have a car and my experience, for the most part, lies with customer service representation in fast food only. (11 years worth) This lead me to an extensive search for online jobs, so I could work from home. Thats when I stumbled on Wealthy Affiliate.

I signed up after reading about it and making sure it wasn't a scam. I went premium within my first week. I watched the training videos and got up my website and then I hit a block with creating content.

I am a writer, but I am used to working with scripts. Scripts are a bit of a different animal when it comes to writing. Unless you really trust someone, it's on its third draft before anyone ever sees it. And then once people do see it you are usually given extensive notes and it takes another three to four weeks to rewrite. This can go on and on for months until a production company feels that its ready to be green lit.

Needless to say, it's a bit different than getting an article up one to seven times a week. It has definitely been a challenge getting my writing mind out of that pigeon hole it was stuck in.

But after I did, I was making articles that I was proud of and getting them up once a week. I made a few friends and I was moving up in the rankings here. I was starting to get affiliated with companies and even my social media followings were on the rise. That's all until life reared its head and I dropped everything to answer the call.

After a month and half of not posting and not really getting on all the work I had done had dropped. It was like I hadn't done anything at all. I decided to try and remedy this as fast as possible, but I found that I was back in that writing pigeon hole I started in.

This lead me to reflect on my decisions over the month in a half that I hadn't done anything and it made me realize that I was focusing more on the job that I was trying so hard to get out of. I was pushing my website to the side as if it was a hobby that I could get to whenever I have time.

I am sharing all this, because I want the WA community to know that I am changing my view on how I look at making my website. It is no longer a hobby that is going to be put on the back burner.

It is a job that I am going to make a commitment to and I will stick with it! I said it out loud and I have entire community to help hold me accountable.

Thanks for reading and I hope this helps anyone else who was or is currently stuck in the position I was.

I know what you mean about how your day job can push your side hustle off the agenda if you are not careful.

In the end it comes down to setting our your goals and respecting yourself enough to make your "commitment" stick.

When I started on this path, I was not very good at the commitment thing! I was too busy socializing and saying "yes" to other people's passions, such as playing golf with friends who loved golf (even though I don't love golf), which, of course, meant in effect, saying "no" to what I really wanted to do - build an online business.

Actually, when I started, I didn't realize how much work I'd have to do on myself, my thinking and habits, to make a success of it.

So it sounds as if you've "got it" much quicker than I did!

Mike says it best; A website is a new born baby; You have to change a diaper more often than every month or so..

Get back into it and get your passion back.

As you know Betsey, a website is a living breathing entity with the need for constant content upgrade tweaking to keep the customers continued interest. It is indeed a full time job in itself! More power to you as you refocus and soar!!

Thank you MKearns. That is something I am definitely learning and thank you for your kind words.
