Getting Ripped Off - Buyer Beware
I just got ripped off so I thought I would share my experience. I must have been in lala land. Anyway here is what happened.
Two guys in a white VAN drove up to me after I parked at the shops and asked me if I wanted some cheap audiovisual gear. A whole system to be exact.
I have just moved into a new home and guess what... The audio visual room is still empty. WOW is it my lucky day! Well they showed me the gear. I went to search the net on my phone and just as I did, guess what, the guy pulls out his iphone and says. Here is the site, we looked up the price on the way. The RRP was also on the box. I had a look. Looks good. New price of one of the projector alone is just under 4k. These guys said they were just delivering these kits so they can be installed, and they happened to score a spare one. Who was I to argue. Sucker - Me.
Just thought I would pop a point in here - GO GETTERS will relate to this. THE POINT - If someone is looking - "me for audio visual gear for example", they will just jump straight in. What was I thinking - wow, just what I was looking for!
On a positive side. The equipment works, some seems a bit dodge, but it does work. Definitely not the quality they portrayed. Apparently this inferior gear is being brought into the country from China or somewhere. The boxes say America. Brand, EClipse and Commercial Media Diamond Series. Maybe someone in America can confirm this is a real American product. Its an E777 projector. Comment.....
It really perplexes me that they are selling this way as the stuff actually works. Not sure how long for though. I think their major aim is to get someone to pay an outrageous price for the equipment. I would estimate the cost to them at around $100 to $300 depending on the quantity they buy. They are good at what they do. They could sell ice to eskimos, I am sure of that.
Well they caught me off guard. I am not really annoyed too much. Only because it does work and I did not pay the price like I have seen reports on the net at over $4000.00. Ouch........ Those people are
annoyed. Leave a comment if you have had a similar experience - Helps others who are not aware....
P.S. I did manage to catch up with these guys and get some of my money back. If you do want a full system that does work. As I said, dont now how long. You should be able to get the whole lot for about $500.00 If they don't come to the party. Walk away and they will chase you for a sale. They are hungry for cash.

Yup. I know where you're coming from! Similar thing happened to me. Black SUV pulls up. Guy says they have overstock on high-quality home theater sound systems. Even shows me their catalog which says it retails for $2,500. I pay $200. Go home. I come to find out the brand isn't even found on Google when I check to search for a review. The sound system is worth no more than about $40. The number on the business card is fake. Lol. They put a lot of work and planning in these schemes. I learned my lesson!
You know, as you said it is a good lesson. Was for me anyway. I am taking something positive away from the experience. Not to say that I want to scam people. You can almost say the same principles are applied. What are people looking for? To find "their need" and help to fulfill that need is what I want to do. Honestly, as we do here at WA.
You know obviously I didn't. They seemed very legit. I was not even thinking straight at the time. As you can see. They are very manipulative and know what to say. After researching I found out about their scamming activities. People make emotional decisions. That is why these guys target what people want and make it look good. I was obviously effected on an emotional level and not thinking straight. They had me over a barrel to start with. I really did want one for my home and WOW there it was. Same as all the others who get sucked in. Best way to stop them is to make people aware. The only problem is that people being people will not say anything. Its embarrassing, you feel fooled/foolish.
I just posted this so people are aware and can pass it on. You don't know what you don't know.

I was about to buy this home theatre package yesterday on Gumtree off a bloke who lives in Henley Brook WA.
The guys name is Carlo, Carlo told me his mate gave it to him as he left the country and had no room for it so was trying to sell it instead of it sitting around doing nothing. Story sounds good, Ended up talking him down to $400 and arranged a time to have a look at it, I thought it was to good true so I searched on Google and found this site and a couple others sites saying the product is a scam. I text the guy straight away and told I was not interested anymore.
I'm not sure if this is the original scammer or just a guy trying to sell it as he may have got scammed him self and trying to get some money back. Most of the posts are from 2 years ago and are sold out of a van where this guy was selling it from his home.
Thanks for saving me from buying a bad product.
One question though, does the projector and sound system still work after two years?
