Identifying your site's style

Hello Everyone! So I've been a member of WA for going on 5 months now and I'm beginning to understand a few concepts of affiliate marketing.

We all know that in order to succeed in affiliate marketing we have to be well versed in a specific niche. But many wonder how they can be successful in a given niche when there is SO much competition against them?

How can one successfully market weight loss while competing against Jenny Craig, Slimfast and WeightWatchers?

I know I found myself wondering the same thing, with so many established brands in my niche how could I make myself stand out?

Well one concept that I want to discuss here at WA is your Site's Style. The internet allows us to create and publish just about anything, so even if two people have the same message they can convey that message in drastically different ways!

I've identified three site styles, though I'm sure there are plenty more, and hopefully through discussing we'll be able to find as many as possible. I've come up with the "Information Style", the "Testimonial Style" and the "'How To' Style".

Let's consider weight loss as our niche. The informational style would give facts about weight loss, calorie intake, and take the "reviews" approach to weight loss. The testimonial style of course, would use personal anecdotes to capture their audience. Finally the 'how to' style would dive right into how to shed pounds and the best ways to do it.

All three styles could easily promote the same product, but they would use different tactics to do so and as a result target different audiences. Therefore despite promoting the same product in the same niche, they would not be competing because the audiences would be different!

Could the Testimonial site give reviews? Absolutely. Might the informational site include a few 'How to's? You bet. But identifying which direction you want to go with your site may help when building that initial content. The possibilities are endless!

What do you all think? Does your site fall into one of the categories above, or is it in a class of it's own? Please leave a comment I'd love to hear about your site's style!

My style is a mixture.

Morning Betty! Could you elaborate a bit, I'm interested to see how you approach building your website!

bestoftabletwar.siterubix.com The site started out as informative. Then I add some of me to it and then I added some how to info. Always changing things around and hopefully improving it.
My site is too broad. Pages too long and too much info to take in. If I had it to do over I would have made it into 4 or 5 sites instead of one.

I don't think it is necessarily too broad, especially since it seems like the majority of your posts are about the kindle fire, considering how many different tablets exist. Have your pages been converting?

Yes, they have. I am very proud of that. I will need to do some updating after the holidays but I plan to keep the site and update it. Amazon is always up to something. Thanks for your input.

Definitely food for thought. I think mine would be more informational. peppered with personal anecdotes and how to! Thanks for that. Jack

I think combining multiple styles is the best way to go about this, then you reach more audiences. Great work Jack, thanks for the comment!
