Today's WordPress Secret is how to restore from post revisions. Did you even know that you can restore from previous revisions of your post.
Save Your Posts Frequently
Each time you save your post WordPress automatically saves a revision of your post. You can restore a post back many revisions so if you like that prior version better you can simply restore it.
Uh Oh! I Deleted My Post Accidentally
Sometimes we make mistakes and if we inadvertently clicked on the delete button on the wrong post all hope is not lost. WordPress again to the rescue. Posts are not totally removed but instead moved to the trash. You can restore your post from the trash if you made this mistake.
Restore from a Revision
Follow these steps to restore from a revision
Note: Revisions do not show until you save at least two times.
- Go to Posts
- Click Edit on the Post You want to Restore the Revision from
- Click Browse to see the Revisions This is in the Publish Section in the sidebar and also in the revisions section below the content.
- Use the Previous and Next buttons to compare and find the revision you want to restore from.
- Click Restore this Revision.
How To Restore When You Deleted a Post
- Go to Posts
- Click the Trash Link
- Select the post or posts you want to restore
- Click restore to restore your post(s)
