Does Slow and Steady Win The Race?

I'm really not sure about that. I think slow and steady finishes the race, but not sure about that winning part. Maybe finishing IS winning.

I DO know for sure that slow and unsteady won't win. Fast and unsteady probably won't win either. Remember the story about the race between the tortoise and the hare, or the turtle and the rabbit if you prefer?

The turtle ends up winning because he (or she) kept plugging steadily along, never stopping, while the rabbit ran in spurts, with breaks in between. Then he (or she) fell asleep and let the turtle win. Bummer if you're the rabbit.

I Read A Book Once.

Don't laugh. I really did. This book was titled, "It's Not The Big That Eat The Small, It's The Fast That Eat The Slow." It was about success in business. The premise of the book was that companies that can adapt and manage change, new trends, and such the quickest will outpace the slower, more stodgy companies.

So, there's my question. Will those of us who move slowly and steadily along eventually begin to see profits coming in for our blogs? If we don't, will speeding up and producing more be the key?

Each of us is in this for our own reasons. Some feel a stronger urge to make money, while others just enjoy blogging and the interaction within the community and the people online.

Some of us feel angst and frustration because we aren't getting much traffic yet, while others don't mind so much.

I've got to admit that I'm in the first group there. I'd like to see my efforts validated by a paycheck.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm swimming along just below the surface and if I just pushed myself a little harder I would break out and breathe the air of success.

That Brings Me To A Question About Competition.

And here's that question. If I am working at my "own pace," am I being left behind by the competition, or will the search engines finally decide some day that I've earned recognition as an "authority site?"

Do I have to keep up with the Jones's to be successful in this business?

Your opinions and responses will be greatly appreciated.

I'm Grant.

I think it depends on how steady an individual is. Let me share the situation. There was a time our church discussed how often the Holy Communion is celebrated, is it weekly, monthly or yearly? Actually, we were doing it annually at that time. When we moved to an area where the heritage is Church of Christ Disciples-they are celebrating it weekly.

You are right even the fast cannot win depending on how fast he is so with the slow one.

Good to know that even us slowpokes can succeed!

Yes, we can.

Hi Grant,
The other day, someone posted about being a perfectionist. I am somewhat of a perfectionist and also moving slowly to make sure I understand the material. Thus, I have become the turtle, but I am moving toward my goal and enjoying the journey! And, have learned a lot of new material! But I am coming along!

Me too, Michael. Keep being thorough, after all, it’s your business and your experience. Thanks for your thoughts.
