I would like to fill in some large blank areas on the sides of my web pages. How would I do that? Is it the skyscraper option under sociable options? I would like to put picture
Pity you did not put your site into the profile. Yes, you may set a few banners of Amazon and GoogleAds if you are afilitate with them. Not sure what you mean under sociable option, I guess to put sociable icons above each other, yes this cane as well. Jovo

Yes, you should use the sides of your website for the affiliate ads and not put them in your content as much. Too many affiliate ads within the content itself will not bring about good rankings, but in the side bar it is fine.
To put them in the side bar you would first have to copy the html code associated with the ad. Then you place a text widget in your side bar, open it, and paste that code in the blank text area of the widget. Then click save and the affiliate ad appears in the side bar.
As you can see below on my website's right side bar, I have two affiliate banner ads, one from NameCheap and one from Wealthy Affiliate.

I need help in sizing my banner to my website. I had a banner but needed to change it. Thanks for your help.
Inside the HTML code, you will see W150 X H250 you can change these numbers to any size you like play with it to figure it out. But if it is a WA banner I tried this and could not get it to work, theirs are set to a certain size. But you can always take a screen capture and resize with paint in MS
Hello Tommy, Just watched your video (which is fantastic) on banners. I played around with this banner pic and finally figured it out. Your videos have helped me in many areas here at WA. Thank you so much. So I am set in the banner area. lol Now I have a question about sidebar menu? Do I need archives or categories?
Categories make it easier for visitors to search for what they want to look at if you categorize all post.
Archives will give you a list of post in reverse order of posting. With the latest on top.
Your choice.

It seems my theme only places comment boxes on my post only. I would like a comment on my home page. Can anyone give me some direction in this please?
Wow Pastor Tae, You put an ALL call out and people came to the rescue. :) Well, what I figured out to do until I do find a new theme, was to move my pages that I created to the "Recent post" on the side bar. So my most informative posts now have a comment box. Took some research in WA to find out how to do that. Hahahaha... Now, when I do find a new theme, is that a huge task and will I lose all that I have worked hard on??
No, your content will all be intact, it will just have a different look to the site.
Your menus will probably need to be fixed and any widgets that you have set up will probably need to be adjusted, the main content should be unaffected.
I see you have lots of answers already. The only other solution would be to install a plugin. I've heard that one can do this, but I haven't used it personally.
Or, you can just put your blog roll on your home page, and just create the majority of content on posts, where people can comment. The Differences Between Posts & Pages
I took a look at the backend of your site. You are using the Cleanr theme. The last update on this theme was in 2012. Sorry dear but this is not compatible with the current revision of WordPress.
You will need to find a theme that has been updated recently. I suspect that your comments issue is related to the theme age.
You can find responsive themes by going to Appearance>>Themes>>Add New and filtering by responsive. Then you will see a list of the most recent and responsive themes.
There are many premium themes that will do the trick for you as well. Feel free to contact me in PM if you need additional information.
This Theme hasn’t been updated in over 2 years. It may no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions of WordPress. Definitely choose another Theme.
Very late here, but I would try the following if you haven't already.
I can see comment box is displaying on posts but not pages.
If the theme doesn't have options to turn on/off comments, you can try turn them on for each page you create.
Edit/Open a page in the editor, at the top of page click screen options and add check mark to "discussion". As seen here: http://take.ms/TbI5m
Then scroll down to bottom of page and make sure comments are turned on: http://take.ms/bF3MQ
hello, this question has been driving me crazy. As you can see below. I tried a number of ways to fix this problem
Glenda, I am going to inquire with my WA pros about this matter and they may visit this page.
Hi Glenda, try this:
1) On your dashboard click on posts.
2) There should be one that says Home
If it is not there then find it in Pages and look for the page that says Home
3) Hover over the 'Home' page/post and click on quick edit
4) You should find ' Allow Comments' to the right with a box in front of it.
If there is not a tick in the box, click on it then click on update.
Check your site and it should have sorted out the problem.
You can do this for all your pages.
Lis.
Hey WA-ers. If you know how to enable comments on a website, please come and help. Please read the discussion so far so that you don't repeat the work already done. Thanks. Can you help?
Looks like the issue is with the theme. It's outdated and apparently also restrictive. Would definitely change to a new theme if at all possible.
Other things to try would be to use a widget or plugin, but either way you will eventually have more issues with an outdated theme. :/
hello. That's an interesting way to describe it since the homepage is technically a post as well. Are you really saying that or are you referring to the PAGES as showing the comments...which they should automatically.
You might have a theme that has a default design of not showing the comments. A few thoughts.
1. So, your homepage then is a static page? Then there is a way to force the comments to show by using a page break. In your post toolbar, there is an icon that looks like a road with a divider - dotted line. It's the second to the right. Click and it puts a dotted line on your post. Then it creates a "read more" which the visitor clicks. Then the comments should appear.
2. I haven't tried this, but I wonder if a PAGE can be placed a homepage. Assuming that pages show the comments, then if it can be done, your problem is solved. Maybe someone can comment on this.
I thank you for your reply. I tried you steps and it did not work. You see, my theme is set up with a sidebar that has search, recent posts, archives, categories and meta
. At the top of my website I have pages. Like: Home, about me, privacy policy, and three other pages. Neither one of the top pages have a comment box. Only the sidebar posts. I may just have to settle with that. Thanks for your help.
look at the top right of the pages and posts and find "screen options". pull that menu down and see if the comments are enabled
Hello Pastor Tae, I went to the "screen options" and the comment was not checked so I checked it. I do see the words comment but it goes below my page to bottom. When I go to view it is doesn't show at all. Do I need to be in visual or text? and is this the time to put dotted line there? At least I do see the word comment.
Ok, I've been to every link on your site and the comments do not appear. I am searching online which is what I do when I can't find help at WA. Search things like "wordpress comment box enable" and there is a lot of discussion. You can also specify the search with your actual theme. Also, I will post a comment on here with a "question mark" - this is re-activate this question to the WA community.
Thank you Pastor Tae, you are working hard for me and I appreciate it. I had a WA-er Kathy respond as to: may not be able to add comment on the pages. She ran a "test" on my theme. Only on the posts a comment box appears. So, I need to transfer my pages (listed at top of site) and put them in recent posts or categories. Wander if anyone knows how to do that. Goodness... do not want to start over. Whew!
No don't start again. This will get resolved. For what you are doing with dogs it's important to have comments to engage dog lovers. People love talking about their dogs. It will positively impact your site
Thanks again Pastor Tae, I am positive there is a fix for this. I know how people love their pets.. I am one of them people. I love my dogs as a family member. Talk again soon.
And I have a very special dog named Abby who is a Shih Tsu mix. She is part of my blog work here and she has her own Pinterest Board. Abby joins Pinterest
Pastor Tae, that is great about abby having her own pinterest board. She is truly part of the family. Love pinterest!
I have exactly the same problem. And no one has come up with an answer.w are you going with it solved yet?

On my wordpress dash board I noticed my icon box for pretty link lite. It is asking me to add a url. It is a pretty link quick add. Do I need to do that?
If you plan on creating a pretty link to an affiliate product or WA affiliate link that is where you will create it and add to your site.
Do I need to add a url in wordpress for pretty link?
