Hi All,
I've got a static Home page and next one with all my posts. I'd like to create a new page with the specific posts but in the settings are only two choices: Front p
mackiejw has a good idea. I would try that first since it is probably the simplest thing to do.
Gitanka,
when I understand correctly, you want this new group of "Recipes" all bunched together in one place.
I would use POSTS, one for each recipes, create a CATEGORY "??????", and when writing the post i can assign the recipe to this category. You don't have to create a RECIPE PAGE do do what you want.
I see you have a Menu item called Recipes and your salad is the only page there. If you use Page for your recipe than you can add the different pages under this menu. If your next one would be "slow salad"
you could add it to the recipe menu.
Let me know if you want to use POST or page and I can walk you thru the process
John
BTW You misspelled Recipes
Thank you for correcting me John :) oh, I'm feeling like I'm in the deep forest with no way out. I'll try to follow your advice tonight and let you know how it goes.
Thank you
Hi John, I've added the posts under "Recipes". I don't like it, because if I added 20 recipes the menu would be too long :)
Hey Gitana,
If you create a page called "Blog" you can then specify that as the Posts page. At that point when your readers click on the Blog page, it will manage all of your posts for you.
It doesn't have to be called "Blog". It can be anything you want. You are essentially telling WordPress what page will it manage your posts for you. This is also known as a blog roll.
You may want to consider the front page as the default which is "Your latest posts" setting. This has been shown to rank better with the search engines.
Let me know if you need further clarification.
Best Regards,
Jim
As a follow up, that "Blog" page can be saved as blank, i.e., no content. It's really a placeholder of sorts.
Hi Jim,
Thank you for your reply. Please have a look to my site http://waystoloseweight.gitanka.com/, I want to create a new "Recipes" page and to post only recipes in there. I've already tried : categorised a page and added one post to the category, but the same post appears on both ( static and recipes) pages.
Do you have any ideas?
Thanks
Gitana
Hey Gitanka,
Did you create a blank page called "Recipes"? Also, did you include that page in the drop down named "Post page" in your Settings->Reading?
Best Regards,
Jim
I added "About all.." to post page in reading settings and also made Home page as a static page. If I put "Recipes" to post page then " About all.." will be inactive. Or I'm wrong?
Hey Gitanka,
I may not be understanding entirely what you are trying to accomplish but usually an About page is not the page that is used for your blog roll. It certainly is possible to do that but what I would do is create an About Me page and put information about yourself and then add it to you Menu section.
The best thing from a ranking perspective is to let your users see the latest blog post which is the default.
Best Regards,
Jim
Yes Jim,
and I think that it is much better then the front page is with latest posts .
Thank you ;)

I installed Google Analytics traffic ID,linked it to Webmaster, inserted them to SEO settings, but I still can't find my website on Google. What else I should do?
One other tip to is to just search the actual domain in Google's search bar to see if the site (or a post) has been indexed yet.
I see Wayne helped you out here, but I wanted to offer a little advise as well.
While we are here learning how to get our sites up and running and to get them ranked, you do not want to over stress yourself about it. It takes time to build your site rankings up, but with hard work and consistency they will climb! Focus on what you need to do and follow the training.
