Premium Affiliate I am!
It's true! I've done IT! I have joined the Premium team and just opened the door to many more exciting opportunities.
When I lost my job last month, I cried, I panicked, how were we going to cover all the bills (we have a DITT household, 'double income two teenagers'), and I need to be earning to put food on the table and fuel in the cars, and if we want to treat ourselves to anything special, or just cover all those extra expenses that involve the kids... ) and yes I have had many a sleepless night over the worry.
So initially I decided to touch base with a few old contacts, no luck there... apply for several admin jobs at a time, a few rejection letters if any response at all... so I put myself on the front line and created GirlFriday Business Services - a virtual office assistant (or temping within my local area). I advertised on free sites, knocked on a few doors, had some success but only giving me a few hours per week. It is a start, and like any new start up, they all take time.
So in my 'free' time I decided to give in to my creative talents, I love building websites (wysiwyg style), designing logos, photography and have a couple of handy applications that can put them all together for me (as I'm not really that tech savvy, like what is html... you know)! And I have had ideas for years, and with those ideas I have a lovely collection of domain names. I was also affectionately know amongst those closest to me as the Information Highway! You see, with my creative mind always ticking over I would have a lightbulb moment - within the next 10 minutes I would have a business plan mapped out - within 20 minutes I would have the domain name secured and probably started on a website or face book page (yeah, I have a heap of those too *rolling my eyes*), and then I would research. I would be bubbling with excitement about what I was learning, and then a day, or a week later, usually happened pretty quickly, I would run into someone and we'd get chatting and guess what... all that info I just soaked up - I just passed on to someone else that needed it... and this continues through my life constantly. So I have resigned to the fact that being an information highway is my gift. And now I also realise this is not a bad thing...
I always said to my hubby "If only I could earn a dollar for every idea or piece of info I shared", and that's when I started looking at affiliate marketing. I tried to dabble in it years ago, but I just couldn't get my head around the concept, or how to put it into action. But then I was always working full time and organising a family so my excuse ended up being that I never had the time.
But the wind in my sails has now changed, and the time has come, so whilst I was creating my last two projects Perfect Property Match and High Essentials, posting affiliate links etc Wealthy Affiliate kept appearing under my nose. So I thought, eh it's free to take for a test ride, why not! It's not like I don't have the time right now... (but I still freak about the money situation), but then you have to spend money to make money, and preferably spend it wisely.
So now here I am, spending money I haven't really got, but willing to invest in the education I need to put my Information Highway skills onto the Internet Highway by way of affiliate marketing. I mean, for me... this is the perfect avenue, because for every idea (niche market) I can share (blog) until my heart is content, and it will often be more than one person that is reading it (not running into them on the street), and I have all the tools right here within WA, and so will hopefully generate a few dollars along the way to keep us all sane.
To bring this little conversation to an end, you have also just gained a little more insight into my crazy mind, but all I can say is if you are wanting to go for it ... THEN GO FOR IT!! I look forward to sharing my own journey as well as keeping in touch with others out there (here) on the same journey!
And if you have a really unique idea, don't be afraid to put it out there - you will be amazed at how many other like minded people will find you!!! That is just energy and the law of attraction (but that's a whole other conversaton) :)
