Keyword Density and Page Ranking

I was thinking about keywords and keyword density while I was having a shower, like you do, and I was wondering if comments posted in posts dilute the density of the keywords in the post itself. I was also wondering if commenting on posts actually makes a difference to the page rank of the post/website.

Obviously, i was thinking if keyword density is not diluted and comments help page ranking, we should all go around commenting like crazy on each others websites. Mwahahaha. :)

Anyone have any thoughts?

Cheers

It may or may not, but keyword density should not be a focus of creating posts. People used to recommend various densities based on the length of a keyword. But keyword stuffing can seriously hurt your post's rank and your trust value in Google. It will also make your content awkward to read for visitors.

The only thing you might want to watch out for it accidentally using a KW too much. That happens occasionally just because we are focusing on a subject.

It's very possible (and happens to me all the time) to rank a post for a low-competition keyword using it once in the title and once in the first paragraph of the content. That's it :)

Thanks for the comment. I see what you're saying but I still think a good 'organic' keyword phrase is important. Actually I use Yoast WordPress SEO and it suggests a keyword density of about 1%. The difficult bit is trying to insert it into a post so it sounds natural. And of course now Google is much more into phrases than individual words, which makes life difficult.

Anyway, I did find the answer more or less. If my keyword phase is something usable, like "Wealthy Affiliate Review" then it will probably occur in the odd comment post as well so there shouldn't be a problem. However, if the keyword phrase is "Kyle and Carson's Wealthy Affiliate Program - a review", the obviously commenters are unlikely to use that so there would be some dilution.

Of course, as LiveFree says below that "rich ,meaningful, correct, and helpful content wrapped up in a pretty bow. Basically knowledgeable and witty content on a well designed user friendly website." is also very true.

yeah I also use seo yoast in wordpress for keyword density

Honestly I think the "virtual wave" or the major shift in the way google ranks has made keyword density something not to think about much anymore. I believe now it is about rich ,meaningful, correct, and helpful content wrapped up in a pretty bow. Basically knowledgeable and witty content on a well designed user friendly website. Good luck. Have fun. and don't give up if u hat a road block, just remember how to avoid it the next time.

Very true and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment

The way you put all this stuff sounded funny. Guess I'm not there yet.
