Keeping focused

Getting going on WA reminds me a lot of when I was a young man and decide to go Deer hunting.

I'm going to write two storeys at the same time here. Probably a no no but here goes.

I was a young man living on a farm and I decided to buy a rifle and a Deer tag and go hunting. So I did a bit of research and decided on a Winchester 308 with a clip and a hammer. I Liked the clip because I could have an extra one in my pocket and could reload quickly. I liked the Hammer because I could have the gun loaded with the Hammer half cocked ready to shoot by just moving the hammer back one click.

I am now retired and I need something to do. I would like to keep helping people as I have always done so, decided to look on the internet to see if there was something suitable. I looked at a lot of programmes and decided to go with Wealthy Affiliate. Just like the gun choice a good one. Many benefits, like lots of help when you need it, good advice, and great founders.

Well now off to find that big Deer and bring him in. I did a lot of reading on hunting, so I thought I knew what I was doing. We had a fresh snow fall so it should be easy tracking. I found a large brush patch about a hundred acres, should be a deer in there some place. So I go tramping in the bush. It wasn't long before I heard a rustle in the woods and away went the deer, a nice big one with a beautiful rack of horns. You see I had my gun ready, but I wasn't.

So I start the training on how to make money online. I could get a website set up in just a few minutes so this should be a piece of cake. OK, now I got a website what do I do with it? Well go back to the training and figure it out. You see my website was ready to get populated, but I wasn't.

So I started to track that BIG Buck. I didn't pay much attention to his tracks, and soon there were several other track joining in with his. So I followed these tracks and soon they started to veer off, one at a time. Now, what do I do? So I followed the biggest set and after awhile I realised that was a big rabbit track.

So I started to follow the directions and some great emails. I printed off all that wonderful information, catalogued it, and indexed it for further use. I followed several newcomers and some of the older ones that had great advice which I sure needed. The long and the short of it is I ended up on several rabbit trails.

There was a big fallen log so I wondered over and sat down and set my gun beside me. I was feeling just a bit dumb at this point and embarrassed for following a rabbit track what kind of a hunter was I. So maybe I should have paid a bit more attention to the hunting tips in that magazine. So I was going over the tips when I remembered the first thing you do is check which way the wind is blowing. Oh yes, that would be a good idea. So I stuck my forefinger in my mouth, got it good and wet then pulled it and held my hand up. There wasn't much wind but that was the big problem, I was going with the breeze, should have been going towards the breeze. You see the deer's ears are about ten times the size of ours so they can hear much better. So the thing to do is get out of there and go around to other side of the bush patch.

Now I have all this great information maybe I should be paying more attention to it instead of getting caught up in all the great ideas coming every day. Please don't get me wrong there is a lot of great ideas that need to be studied and put to good use. But there is also a lot of what some call fluff. It is nice to visit with all these great people and generally one can learn something from most of the posts. One can also get caught up in the idea of getting a better rank, is this a rabbit trail?

So I went to get up off the log, looked around and there he was down wind watching me. Soon as I moved he was gone faster than I could get my gun, foiled again. Ok, now I remembered what to do so go back to the truck and go around to the other side of the bush patch.

Ok I think I'm getting the hang of it, pay more attention to the important stuff and less to the things that are not. In all this time that I have been studying and getting to know people I have come across some real great and essential programs.

I think most of us have tracked the rabbit, at least for a while. Great combination of a story and analogy. Maybe a drabbit. Part rabbit, part deer. Thanks George......Dick

That drabbit will get you every time, make sure you check those tracks lol ha ha

Good post.
Ed

Thanks Ed

ha ha good analogy and it is true if we do not focused we cannot follow the right trail

I'll have to admit it is hard to keep focused sometimes, you know, get in a hurry and off on a drabbit trail.

LOL. Good story and nice analogy. :-)

you eat an elephant.. one bite at the time..

I like that

Do the money side, then learn slowly before you get overwhelmed.

Thanks, very true
