Countdown to 2015, Day 15: How to Create an Online Income, $5 at a Time
I am counting down the days until 2015 arrives with ideas, information, inspiration and resources to help you earn more in 2015. Starting today, I will concentrate on actual jobs and businesses.
Fiverr is one of the very first microservice sites on the internet. It's also one of the largest microservice sites around. The basic premise is simple: people log on to Fiverr and agree to perform certain tasks,in exchange for $5.
The idea is simple…but it can be a huge help for starting up an online income. There are all kinds of services you can contract for on Fiverr that can make your life a whole lot easier. You can also sell your services there.
Here are just some of the many gigs you can purchase on Fiverr to help get your business started:
Publicity Stunts
Want someone to temporarily tattoo their arm with your brand's logo and take a photo of it? Someone will do it on Fiverr.
Want someone to sing a song on camera while dressed in a ridiculous outfit? Someone will do it on Fiverr.
You can use all kinds of crazy gigs to create publicity stunts that will attract attention.
Proofreading and Publishing
A lot of the more menial tasks in the writing and publishing process for both web and print content can be outsourced to Fiverr.
You can have your document proofread for $5. You can have a book cover designed for $5. You can have a book converted into Kindle format for $5. You can have an ebook cover created for $5.
Website Building Tasks
Need someone to help solve a WordPress configuration error? There are experts on standby on Fiverr.
Want someone to build .edu and .gov backlinks to your website? There are plenty of people on Fiverr who can help.
Need help moving your website from one host to another? You can pay $5 for it instead of several hundred on fiverr.com
Video and Audio Services
Need someone to read your video script out loud in an exciting voice? Fiverr is a fantastic resource.
Want to add a cool animated intro to your videos? Someone will gladly create it for you for $5.
If You Want to Sell on Fiverr:
There is a lot of competition in almost every category, so you need to make your offering stand out. Think of something you can do (and are willing to do for the site's set price) and research the site to see who else is offering that service. Put a slight twist on yours or throw in an extra value to make it unique.
Decide exactly how much work you are willing to do for $5. (In reality, you will only get $4 for each gig because Fiverr takes $1.) For example, if you're a content writer, $5 may be too low a fee for you to write an entire article, but it might be acceptable for a 250-word blog post. There are people making a lot of money on Fiverr because they offer “add-on” services so that buyers can choose to get a larger job from you than the basic rate.
So, the next time you want someone to operate a hula hoop while talking about your website on YouTube, think of Fiverr. It should also be your first stop for trying out new ideas.
Get in the habit of checking Fiverr.com whenever you find yourself wishing you could outsource something you have to do. Try checking Fiverr to see if someone would do it for $5. If it's work that can be delegated online, chances are, someone will.
