Thoughts, Musings & Other Stuff

I've been working on a website, on and off since the spring of 2012, dealing with the issue of bullying.

The thing is, I don't think I want to develop this as a website, but may want to go down another path. I never truly intended for this to be a website.

Let me try and explain, but first of all, you may want to check out the main "story" page on the site, the Pit Bull Kitty story. There's more to the site, but for now I'd love for you to just check out the main character's story.

So, If you:
  • Click on this link, the Pit Bull Kitty story (but not exactly right this second)
  • Check out Pit Bull Kitty's story
  • And come back here to give me input, opinions, criticism (yes, even that), suggestions, threats or offer me lots of cash, I promise you, I'll be your best friend. Forever.

So, click the link, check out the cat's story and come back to read about my dilemma. OK? I'm gonna need some help, and I've heard that the WA community is pretty darn good at doing that.

OK, go ahead and click the link (how's that for a call to action), but don't forget to come back here.

Now, for those who have read the Kitty's story, and come back...

Boy, you guys are really good to me. I surely don't deserve your kindness or cooperation. I'm a bit overwhelmed, but I'll go on with my issue, and perhaps you'll be able to help get me on a good path.

I originally put up the site last summer to "test out" a character and concept that my wife and I had come up with. We wanted to see how people would respond to a character, and a story... about a cat that had gone through a lotta junk with being bullied... and how he planned to get tough and mean so he could get back at the bullies... but then some twists and turns in the story changed his direction.

After putting up the site, I got on twitter and basically annoyed people into visiting the site, kind of like I'm doing now, and ended up with a lot of nice comments, and a bunch of likes, tweets and shares, as you can see for yourself on the Pit Bull Kitty story page.

So, in theory anyway, Pit Bull Kitty had some potential. People were reacting well.

Due to personal and family issues, I had to put Pit Bull Kitty on the shelf for a number of months, but now want to move ahead again.

"So, What's your so-called dilemma and/or issue?" you're now saying. I can actually hear you.

I'll lay it out for you, as briefly as possible.

1. We believe that the problem and tragedy of bullying might need to be approached through the channel of people's imagination, rather than bombarding them with facts, statistics and information.

Don't misunderstand me. We respect those people and organizations that are getting out a lot of facts and information, and setting up valuable programs. We feel this is good and necessary, and we are grateful to those people.

We simply believe that the avenue of the imagination, especially in the young, might be a real key to major breakthrough in this troubling arena of social justice which brings so much misery to so many people.

Think about it: A character... a story... an image. If it's a good character, story and image, it may have the potential to explode upon the consciousness of people in ways that facts and info never could.

A character... a story... an image could go into books, cartoons, video games, toys and possibly countless images on a multitude of products.

OK, so that's point #1.

2. In order to accomplish anything of real substance, I believe it will will necessary to connect with people who have skills, experience and knowledge that I don' t and who can see the potential that I see for two things... major accomplishment in the arena of bullying/social justice and major success in the business/financial realm.

Will I need to connect with people who have real skills, experience and knowledge in the corporate world? The world of people who really know website development and internet marketing? The Church and ministry realm? The world of the major social entrepreneurs? Some of these? All of them?

Now, this is where you come in, my new found WA friends and fellow strivers after something better than the rat race.

I'm ready to listen now to your input and advice... your suggestions... your experiences, good and not so good... your referrals and references... and finally, to your offers of massive amounts of cash.

Is there someone who'd like to work with me? I'm listening. Someone who likes what I'm doing and would like to hook up? Perhaps somebody who feels they need to tell me I'm out of my mind and need to be in an institution? Go ahead. I asked for it. Or someone who has great corporate connections who wants to introduce me? I'm right here, waiting and listening.

And, I also need to consider the possibility that I may need to be told that my character, concept and story are nothing of substance, and will never go anywhere, but I will need to hear that from more than a few people.

Hey there:

Let me tell you that the topic you are addressing is a very interesting topic to write on and above all, addressing this topic from the perspective of the social justice that revolves around it, it's better yet. In my opinion, this is an issue that should be "blogged" more frequently in every media possible. BUT (there is always a "but" :) ). Although this topic is very interesting and challeging to address, in my personal view, sadly, it's not a "profitable" topic to write about. I would be glad if this kind of topics were "hot topics" among the masses, but it isn't. For me that's a problem. But go ahead man, never cease in your ideas, never let other people tell you what you have to do, follow your instincts, but, as an advice, keep in mind if the dreams you are following, have a happy ending at the end of the tunnel.....I wish you the best my friend, in all your endeavors, and shoot me an email whenever you feel the need to do it. Thanks again for sharing your ideas and for being original, because I firmly think that's the most important trait in any people.
Good luck!

Thanks a lot, David, for your thoughtful take on things, and willingness to check out and comment on my "stuff"

Hey there,

Good story! I liked it! Is it true or not? Somewhat confused there! :)

I love the characters and so I see an ebook creation in the making just like "Smokey the Bear" teaching campers how to have a safe vacation in the beautiful Redwoods.

Blogging about characters like that sort of let's victims of bullying tell their story and I think if you look at other sites in how they format their "PLATFORM" it may give you some ideas.

As for going to corporate for help may take a little proof that, that is the angle to go.

Talking about it is paramount and so if you can corral the masses to "like", "vote", "join", "approve", and especially "share", then I think you maybe on the right track.

This area is relatively new, in terms of the masses recognizing a problem and so what other characters are out there compared to Pitbull Kitty (great character btw especially when you read the story).

Great job!

Kal

Thanks for your thoughts on this, Kal. Of course it is TRUE

I wrote this as you were writing me a PM. Very strange.

Hmmmmmmm

I am as new as you are, But I think that you can have a blog set up where you just put your thoughts, and feelings, places for help. I think that eventually people will follow you, they should be able to comment, at that time you can send out your passion and help these people. hope this helps

Thanks so much for checking things out and for your input.

there is victory out reach and others organizations that are the same,That maybe you can add there link can you set up a live hot line chat. and then enlist help people to man that maybe have a teen there also
not sure but your site is great. I wish there was more work for the teens, a place to get involved. A place that God good let them see the worth, Teens are so cool. Then maybe have teens do the article so that your site will show up first in the rankings so help is really close and maybe create so writers.
