Not all templates are as good as expected

Thought I should share an annoying experience....

Unfortunately I am now disappointed with a template called Golden Eagle Lite by InkThemes - which at first looked very promising for a website that I am currently building up.

I thought 'yeah this is a nice template so I'll use that'. But then I discovered it was the 'Lite' version hence not truly free, after realising perhaps a little too late after spending a few days on content that it actually has very limited functions e.g. number of front mages scrolling on the landing page is maximum 2. When previewing in other templates it lost much of the visual looks that I expected to easily inherit or show. I think perhaps the inktheme template was cleverly written to make you stay with them, use their own templates.

But I thought I could live with this for now. Until I showed the website to someone on my iPad and then I was further disappointed to see the main menu did not work properly; it showed but was un-clickable.

So I thought I will just purchase it and all of the features should work properly. The price was horrendously high and according to some googling results this template is not ipad or iphone friendly.

I now realise that I need to do more research on templates before assuming they are ok and I can use straight away. I need to ensure that not only they work properly on a PC but also on ipads/iphones and similar devices. Most browsers too.

I also read about plugins that could help enable 'unfriendly' templates on portable devices. So I tried a few 'very popular' plugins and discovered each time it messed up my website presentation and cleverly added adverts of their own!

My guess is I should start looking for an HTML5 version....

Just another note: I just checked out inkthemes support pages and it looks like their support is poor so I will stay away from them. Pity when their templates look promising. Here is an example of users trying to get answers:

I ended up buying one of their templates as it was going to take too long to migrate my content to anotehr template. But I was about to ask for a refund as there was no way to fix a problem regarding opening banner pages in a new tab till one of the inkthemes programmers kindly modified their plugin code for me. So I am a little happy now :-)
