Think I Picked The Wrong WP Theme.HELP
I'm not sure I picked a good template. Can I change it at this point?
....and how do I do that?
How do I know what kind of a template is going to work for my site? Maybe there's a tutorial describing different styles and what they offer......would be wonderful if there is. I want to start off here with the right design style, and not have to change later on after I get everything built.

Wayne, I don't know what should be wrong with your choice. Personally I like your theme. I had a look, it has a clean design, timeless and elegant. I wouldn't change.

Thank you Anne. I picked it because of the scene, not knowing it doesn't come with the theme. It was a great empty, hiway scene I thought would go great with my "road to...." domain title. I'm very green at all of this, so I'm not really sure what template I need to do what Kyle is teaching. I want a right margin for listing archived articles and such.....doesn't look like it has one. I'm a bit lost knowing actually what it is I do need. I don't want to change it later, after I get things built.

You can upload a beautiful image, the right margin (sidebar) is also in that theme.
Sincerely, I didn't know that theme, I discover it thanks to you and I am sure this is really a beautiful one. It offers you everything you need and I believe you had the right eye !!!

Thank you Anne......I am moving on in the lessons so I can be ready for Kyle's next assignment. Don't want to get behind. I'll worry about the theme later, maybe. Glad you found Dento attractive and usable.

Most themes will work fine, anything you want that is not present can be added with a plugin. The right margin for listing archived articles and such is adjusted by changing and rearranging your WIDGETS. Some plugins even come with extra features that can be added to your widgets, either on a sidebar or the footer area. For example, when I added an e-commerce plugin, then I had the option to list popular items from my e-commerce products in a widget and so much more!

Start a test website and go check up other themes, when you've found a great one you can change easily by going to your dashboard>themes>add new>install>activate Using malicious scripts can wreck your website, open a test site
Thank you so much Loes.......I'll go through the tutorial you linked for me. The real problem is, I don't know what I'm looking for. I don't know what attributes or features I need for building a website to do what Kyle is going to be leading us into. Because I've never done this before. That's the crux of the deal......in his video, he doesn't go into that. Having a choice of over 2000 themes only makes it worse, not better, for me.

There will be a good theme for you. I have had to change my theme several times. Once it was a plugin conflicting with it. Another time the header image pushed my menus out of sight. From my experience choose the layout and text you think will suit your blog. The image at the top you can usually change to anything including your own uploaded image. You don't have the images that come with the theme. That will extend your choice endlessly. Hope this helps. Tracy
Hi Wayne:). I changed my theme last year, and the one I have now may not be the best, but it's easy to work with:)
I created a test site first, and looked at different themes with this practice site. You might try that, and see what you come up with. Best wishes to you! I hope you get it all sorted out:)

Hi Wayne:). I've been here for over a year, and I'm still trying to figure things out, as well! Try playing with different themes, and see which one you like best:) Honestly, I don't think there's a perfect theme to use. I just had to adapt and make it work:). I hope you get it all sorted out:)

A note of caution to start. WA does not allow us to post our URL in this section if you want to have your URL on your page then it belongs in the bottom right hand corner under find me here.
To change your theme, just go to your back office and click appearance and themes. If you used Site content to build the site there will already be 4 themes in there you can change to any one of them.
If you don't like them then click the plus sign and choose a new one.

your theme is great - just add the images that you want (can help with that if you are having trouble). But to answer your question - you can change themes anytime you want! Content will transfer - look may need some work though!
