Mid-January Motivator
Hello amazing WAers!
Can you believe we’re already halfway through January? Where does the time go?
This is a quick post in case you need a little motivation this dreary January, but first, another question...
How are you getting on with your goals so far?
And if the honest answer is “not very well” or “I haven’t really started yet” – that’s genuinely okay. You haven’t failed. You’re just human. So don't beat yourself up, compare yourself to others or feel down. And most importantly, don't give up!
What matters more than when you start is how you approach this year.
There’s a well-known idea that says:
"If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got."

It's one of my all-time favourite quotes because I find that when I remind myself of it, it nudges me in the direction of doing something different, to get a different result. After all, if you want to make an apple pie, you can't do it by following the recipe for pasta!
None of this is meant as criticism – it’s simply how habits work. When we repeat the same routines, make the same choices, and react in the same ways, we naturally end up in the same place. Change only happens when something shifts and the truth is that the person who needs to shift is US!
That shift doesn’t have to be huge. It could be:
- Learning a new skill instead of relying on the same old methods
- Setting aside regular time rather than just trying to “fit it in”
- Asking for help instead of trying to figure everything out alone
- Finally committing to a path you’ve been circling for years
- Investing in yourself (or a Wealthy Affiliate membership) to increase your knowledge and assets
I'm sure that you don't need this year to have more pressure or perfection. But maybe it needs a little intention and a willingness to do one or two things differently. One of the hardest things to do often is to stop blaming other people for the life we have created and the place on the road where we ended up. But we have to do that if we want to move on. And that includes blaming ourselves. Taking responsibility for your life is totally different from blaming yourself. It has different energy - one is negative and the other positive. And therefore they both have a different outcome.
So here’s the real question:
What are you choosing to do differently in 2026 to move you closer to your goals?
One small change, repeated consistently, can completely alter where you are by this time next year.
As I said to my student the other day, if you don't try, you will never know!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Gail

Hey Gail
Excellent message and you are correct in your assessment.
I like your words 'If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got'
The key is understanding : 1 - 'what you want to achieve in 2026? and 2 - 'What you need to change to achieve that objectives set for 2026?
Just saying ^_^ very good and thoughtful post. Cheers
Hello Gail, this motivation is powerful it hit me with the truth. Thanks for sharing Gail! Keep the positive vibe.

Hi, Gail. 🤗🤗🤗
My 3 year transformation is off to a slow start. But today I finished my first week of going to the gym. I am also trying to eat better.
Thanks
JD
Well done JD. Small starts are fine. I'm trying to do the same although I've not made it to the gym... yet!

The thing I chose to do more of this year is work more directly with Google Analytics to improve my posts from the technical side of things. I started yesterday when I deactivated Site Kit and installed free version of RankMath. RankMath led me to Google Analytics and I found a property in my account that I did not know existed. I deleted that property. Now my account has only my 2 real properties. Well, that is a start
MAC
Sounds good. I'm debating whether to put Rank Math on all my sites. Can't quite decide if it is helping the one site I use it for or not.
I am doing the same thing now. I have a second website that I am still debating about installing RankMath there too.
I might trial it on my site that is struggling in Google - that might give some answers. I'll let you know if it changes things. All the best, Gail
We shall await your update.👍
I am liking RankMath because it is giving me more direction towards improving each post.
