How to Overcome Imposter Syndrome as an Affiliate Marketer
I have joined and re-joined Wealthy Affiliate a number of times and have struggled, not with marking itself but Imposter Syndrome with the thoughts that how can I build websites that to show I am an expert in a field that I know little of and still learning as I build the site which will then promote relevant products.
So the self doubt then comes into play as I am the type of person that wants to provide value to people and help them in the relevant field. The reason I end up quitting is that I don't want to build sites that are just money machines.
Even writing this post I am feeling the "Imposter Syndrome", being someone who has very little experience in this industry.
What is the solution, how can I be in a business that has interested me for many years but allows me as an affiliate marketing entrepreneur to build websites that interest my customers, provide value and eventually an income.
Maybe its being in a supportive community like this, where I can get help and advice on my challenges. Also it might be a good solution to choose a subject I know a lot about, but by day I am a a software developer building code and no-code solutions. I have struggled to find how I can build websites that provide information and build an income in this area especially as it is saturated with experts.
These are the challenges I really want to resolve, learn from and build upon so I grow and help others from my experiences and make friends along the way.
I am going to try my best not to give up and to make small steps to work out how not to feel an imposter. I will post what I learn along the way, both the good and bad.
Happy Chanukah & Christmas to one and all!

Hi Jonathan,
I think many people encounter impostor syndrome when they get started. For me, it's more a feeling of not knowing what I could say that hasn't already been said.
The answer is: nothing. Everything in my field has already been said. (I'm an English teacher.)
I try to remember that I bring a unique perspective to my business, Nobody else can tell my stories, or use my methods. I am adding my personal views to the collection of information that is accessible to everyone.
And I also think there is nothing wrong with making money. If you can build a "money machine" website, do it.
Good luck!

Some advice I got from another source:
- an expert is someone who knows a little more than the person reading your post does
- fake it till you make it
My background (or one of them at least) is very similar to yours. I have been struggling with this for about 16 months now. I am finally starting to see success. Small but it's there. And better still. I know why I am succeeding. I think that's more important than actually succeeding.
