Make a Difference

Yesterday I spent some time reading the life story of the late Zig Ziglar. What an amazing man and such an inspiration. We can all learn so much from this very positive man of faith and hope and wisdom.

I am using his story as the basis for one of my posts on the site about aging and thriving. Today I will work on that and hope others will be equally inspired by Zig.

When I was growing up I went to a girls boarding school and one of the messages we heard often was that behind every successful man is a good woman. After reading Zigs story I realized that his mother and his grandmother were very instrumental in Zig becoming the man of influence and success that he did.

Zigs dad died when he was just 6 years old leaving his mother to raise 12 children.

I don't know about you but I raised only 3 children with a husband to help. Zigs mother had a strong faith which enabled her to cope with whatever came her way and to raise her children to be people of strength and character and so I want to acknowledge her for her part. in forming the famous Zig Ziglar

However it was to Zig himself and his ability to remain positive in the face of adversity that enabled him to become one of the worlds greatest influencers.

One of my favorite Zig quotes is :

"It's not what you've got, it's what you use that makes a difference."

I used to tell my kids that the gifts they had was Gods gift to them, what they did with them was their gift back to God. .

We need to use our God given talents to improve and enhance the lives of others.

Another Zig quote is

"You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great."

Sometimes that is the hard part, just getting started.

Lets make that our one resolution to get up each day and get started with a positive attitude. We can each make a difference.

"Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude."
