Confession time (I had to make a choice before I had no choice)

Confession time: True Story, When everything started hitting in late March I started spinning out of control mentally and physically. I was glued to the latest update of Covid, Watching the news on my phone, The riots, the chaos. I started to drink pretty much everyday (I would go through a bottle of Jose Cuervo Tequila Especial Silver - 1.75L Tequila in 2-3 days easily.) It was my escape from all of this.

I was able to mask it in most cases to friends and family if and when I saw them. My eating was also way out of whack, I just didn't care. I ate like crap. If it was there...I ate it. For 2 months straight this was a vicious cycle.

The drinking subsided due to unbearable chest pains one night (Thought I was having a heart attack), but the eating kept on a truckin.

The final straw was I was at a church meeting and got horribly dizzy, had to be driven home and then took my blood pressure and it was 154 over 104. At that very moment I knew I had to make a change and not let the surroundings of this world dictate my direction.

I had to focus on what I had control of, that’s it.

So I had a heart to heart talk with myself and told myself this…”Listen swizz lips, its time to put up or shut up"

It was time to get Freddy O back...

And NO, I didn’t use Magic pills to lose the weight lol

As far as my health, I got with my good friends Richard and Robin Hottinger of SHIFT - Transformations to get me squared away on my nutrition and fitness regime. That was a game changer for me. I cannot thank them enough for investing the time into me and my health. I’m learning so much about nutrition It's crazy. Plus Richard enjoys killing me with his 15 minute workouts on zoom lol (yes, they are 15 minutes, but so intense)

50 days in the books = Down 27.4 lbs

My heart rate went from 74 resting to 59 resting.

A tight 38 waist shorts to a 34 waist that actually fits.

I’m not at my goal yet, but I will get there

Does it take work = YES!
Is it worth it - YES!

As far as my mental state…
First: I got rid of any news app on my phone, don’t need it, it’s toxic. If the sky is falling I’m sure I’ll figure that out eventually.

Second: I added a Google Extension that cleans up my feed on FB from negative, self loathing, complaining peeps. Trust me, that was a breath of fresh air (plus I limit it to 20-30 mins a day for business)

3rd Thing: Prayer every morning, Just talking to God.

In closing, I had a choice that day to either keep going down the road I was going on or switching gears and making a change. Am I where I want to be at, nope, but I’m gonna stay on this path and let it ride.

No matter what may be going on in your life, you have that choice. Whatever you may be struggling with, there is a better way.

I lastly wanted to thank my beautiful wife, amazing son and awesome friends like you for supporting me.

Don’t let the world choose your direction, trust me, you do have a choice on what direction you take.
