Hi, I am Freddie. I am a Specialist Wellness Counsellor, based in Somerset West (about 40 kilometers from Cape Town), South Africa.

I counsel people for a living. For my sins, I specialise in addiction (in all its forms and manifestations). This entails helping people with addiction problems getting clean and staying clean, but I also work extensively with the families and friend of the addicts to support them.

I also write books. My first book is called "The First Layer". It is a workbook to assist addicts to work through the twelve steps in any addiction in 21 sessions. I also base my 24 day Step Coaching and Counselling Programme on "The First Layer". This programme can be run face-to-face, but has proven very successful on Skype or WhatApp video too.

My second book, "Life Anon", as step working guide for non-addicts, but for people who struggle with any aspect of their lives, should be available by October (hold thumbs)! I am in the editing process.

I also host my own podcast, "Meet me in the field". The topic we talk about are spiritual journeys. I believe that we all believe in something and that we all have a story to tell. "Meet me in the field" beings you these stories from people of all walks of life. It is available on most major podcast platforms and on my website and YouTube channel.

I hope to learn a lot here.

HI. I am Freddie.

I am a professional Specialist Wellness Counsellor, registered with the Association for Supportive Counsellors and Holistic Practitioners (registration number HC18/208), born, bred and educated in Johannesburg. I did a BA Social Sciences, majoring in Psychology and Sociology, at the then Rand Afrikaans University (now University of Johannesburg) and followed that up with an Honours in Sociology, specialising in Family Sociology, Group Dynamics and Industrial Sociology. I did my counselling qualification through UNISA. My special interests are addiction and addictive behaviour in all its forms and manifestations (from alcohol and drugs to food, sex, love and whatever form addiction can take), self-esteem realisation, past and present trauma, anger management, stress and anxiety. I have a special affinity for twelve step coaching.

I strongly believe that the power of talking is under-appreciated and not significantly utilised. All of us go through challenging and difficult times in our lives, but we can grow beyond and because of that. By talking to the right person and accepting their guidance and support, you can develop yourself into the best YOU that you want to be.
