Hi guys,
I hope you are all doing great and working hard on your training and website.
Yesterday, 21st of June marks 1 year for my website with WA.
I usually enjoyed other members' milestone blogs in WA because it gives me an idea of my own progress.
So, this evening I will give you my progress so far.
Challenges
- I have a 9-5 job so I worked on my blog at nights and weekends.
- I also have 3 kids at home so I have to give my time to them as well.
- I don't have anyone to assist me with research, proofreading, or writing. So I am the writer, the graphics guy, the product researcher, SEO consultant, and Wordpress expert. Like others in WA said, it can be a lonely business.
Having said that, I did make some progress.
Some Statistics & Progress
- About 15 "best of" posts
- 3 product reviews posts,
- The rest are guides and "how to" posts.
- About 4 posts never ranked.
- Average words per post: 2000.
- Traffic: 400 per month/10 per day (very low).
- Maybe due to the low traffic/QSR we are taught here
- and the low number of posts on my website.
- My traffic dropped in November 2019 and it's recovering painfully slow.
- Google algorithm?
- The pandemic?
- 1st Affiliate commission: 5 months after set up. It was a great motivation.
- Commission from Amazon only.
- Low commission but I'll stick around while I am still learning.

What I Learn So Far
- Patience - this business requires patience, and a lot of it. I know my traffic sucks and the commissions are far and few in between but I also know I am building my business from scratch. So it will take time. My first few months were plagued with technical issues but I dont give.
- Learn about anything you don't know. When am stuck with anything from Wordpress, content writing, SEO, graphics, plugins, etc I would go and learn from WA. There's ton of training here. This is also slowing down my progress but I am learning as I go.
- Time management. Kyle just wrote a post about it a few weeks ago. While I try to be as productive as possible, staying up late at night can cause me disaster the next day. So I try to go to sleep around 9PM and get up at 3AM. That way I have good 6 or 7 hours of sleep also it is quiet around the house and good for writing and doing research.
Plans For Next 12 Months
- Focus on my 1 website
- I am trying to reach 100 posts in the next 6 months (39 more to go)
- Fix my traffic - SEO, etc
- Try and earn $100 per month rather than $15 in commissions
- Keep learning in WA, especially Jay's webinars
- Be more active in helping others on WA
- Renew my WA membership of course
Thank You
After 1 year mark, I have no regrets for pursuing my dreams. I am grateful, actually.
I would like thank those who assisted me one way or the other.
I learn a lot from guys like Nathaniell, Jay of MagiStudios, boomergp08, dylanrieger, TDenise, and a lot more members, for taking your time to give back to the WA community.
Lastly, a big thank you to Kyle, Carson, and the WA team for this wonderful platform where I can learn and grow from.
Thank you for reading my post and I hope you learn something.
I also would appreciate any suggestions on how to improve on my progress.
Cheers,
Fred
