Read, read, read
If the stats are correct, studies tell us that we use only 10% of our brain capacity. That's a pitifully small amount when we could be filling it 90% more, right? But it's also exciting because it means that we can always keep learning!
I have found in my writing career that to be an efficient writer, one must be an avid reader. Read the works of an author who inspires you...a lot. His style and writing personality will become ingrained in your brain...impressing upon you.
Read things that give your own knowledge a stretch. Articles that work your concentration. Articles that inspire and excite you to follow your niche passion. Just read, read, read. It also gives you a larger resource pool to draw ideas from. It keeps the brain active.
Don't let a day go by without some beneficial 'read', you hear?

Great advice, Faith.
Although I relish any opportunity to read, I found that I had become a bit lazy (thank you Netflix!) So, in January, I gave myself a reading challenge: every month, I would read 2 books. It didn't matter the length of the book or the subject matter, I just needed to read 2 books every month.
I generally read things that I have an interest in, like Christian-based, health, business, and self-improvement. But I also like to throw in some fiction, and I'll even read something that may not be something or someone I agree with, but just to expand my mind, (which explains why I read Donald Trump's most recent autobiography).
There have been a few months (like now) where I was racing against the clock, but I haven't missed a month of reading 2 books! It's a small, yet big accomplishment! Maybe one month, I'll give myself the challenge to read 4 or 5 books, but for now, I'll just leave it at 2 books.
I just turned 50 back in September, so it's very important that I'm actively stimulating my brain. So now, when I have my Netflix binge-watching moments, I don't feel guilty!
Happy reading to you, Faith!
Hi Veronica,
Good to hear from you! I love reading too and even if it's late at night , I read till I fall asleep! ( also read a short inspiration first thing in the morning to ponder over with my coffee!) Probably only get one book read per month right now...because I have two jobs. But try to read the news and other articles relating yo my world.
I like Christian-based books, all natural health and herbalogy teaching. Also like to read westerns( like Louis L'Amour) because we are cattle ranchers in the West...and, like you, try to read some "heavy" stuff to stretch my brain--even poetry.
My 55th birthday was in September too, so great...we can grow and learn together.
All the best...

Hi Faith!
Our brains are the control center of our human body. I am reluctant to read in bits and pieces. Which does not provide enough stimulation to all functionalities of the central nervous system.
Lately, since joining the WA community, I have been Very passionate to read more than ever. Truly, reading regularly helps slow the aging process and ward off allstimulus diseases.
My ultimate goal for the new year will be to read one book a month. Since I have such a busy schedule at work, home and play, I need to follow through with what is reachable for me. Although I need to be reading one book a week.
Anyway, it's typical for me to just start somewhere, because somewhere is better than nowhere.
My interest is motivational, how-to, inspirational, economic's and marketing and wellness & health that's...reads.
Thank you for sharing this moment of thought.

Indeed, somewhere is better than nowhere! And all of our schedules and abilities are different, too. Sometimes we look at the progress of others and think- Am I a loser? But NO! I /we cannot be someone else. We start from where we are and build on what life has given us so far, right?
My interests are variable ...I like to learn! But what I have passion about is teaching simple cooking lessons and also the knowledge and use of natural health products.
Best wishes for 2018!
