We Are All Film Makers!

Haven't we all watched films in which we see and actor / actress that plays a part as a confident, self assured individual who makes things "magically" happen around them, is surrounded by successful people and generally gets what they want in life? Then at some point we see another film where the same actor plays the opposite character. This character has lost the "eye of the tiger", they're weak and pushed around by life's obstacles, addicted to drugs, and on a path to an early grave. I've sometimes wondered how it's so easy for the same person, in the same body, with the same mind and the same physical appearance, to appear so dramatically different on film?

As I get older and become more aware of how this world is put together, the answer to this type of question becomes clear. The actor has been able to convince us all the he is two or three different people because he has convinced himself in his own mind that he is one and not the other. He or she has trained themselves over the years to become the person that a script calls for, be that a strong character or a weak one; a happy one or a miserable one. Through the use of words, body language and perception created by a director, he is able to project the exact image that he needs to portray in this reality we call "movies" (moving pictures).

I think all of us are really just actors or actresses, acting out the script to our own "moving pictures". We have the ability to play our roles in any way we choose; the way we write them. We can choose to get up every day and face the inevitable obstacles with a smile, because we know we wrote the script. We can "magically" make things happen around us by writing into our script what we want. We can choose to have the "eye of the tiger", or we can opt for getting pushed around by every one and everything. Like good actors, we have to train ourselves to act out the roles we write in this grand illusion of moving pictures we call life. We have to write our scripts, speak the words and take the actions necessary to be the auteur of our own lives.

Today, not tomorrow, today is the day when you will write this script for yourself and begin to be the person that you want to be. Don't waste another minute. Do it!
