Are Sunscreens Good For You?
I did a little research on the ingredients used in sunscreen, and I am amazed that so much distress can be directed to sunscreen & it's chemical based product.
I did not know one's sperm count could be lowered drastically, or that skin irritation is caused from sunscreen as well.
Some chemicals have been shown to be found in breast milk and horror upon horrors shown to be a hormone disruptor.
Chemicals are known to affect the thyroid & the sex hormones. Maybe this could be one reason that some children are unsure of their sex orientation. There seems to be a huge trend of children wanting to change their sex.
I'll do a list of chemicals used in sunscreen & cosmetics too.
- Oxybenzone the worst culprit
- Octinoxate bad also
- Octocrylene bad too
- Avobenzon
- Homosalate
In comparison natural sunscreens contain:-
Titanium Dioxide shows no skin penetration or hormone dissruption
Zinc Oxide No more than 0.01% of skin penetration, no hormone disruption
and you get a very good UVA protection
Mexoryl SX less than 0.16% skin penetration and no hormone disruption.
Since there has not been a review of the safety of sunscreens since 1970 I wonder how many new chemicals have been added since then and therefor have not been evaluated.
Physicians have been reporting that methylisothiazolinone is a serious allergen and there has been wide spread & serious cases of skin irritation with this chemical being added to baby wipes and cosmetics.
What sunscreen are you going to wear this summer or in the case of winter season in some countries, are you going to choose chemical based sunscreens or natural products?

That’s an interesting article. I don’t use sunscreen. I agree with the point that we are poisoning ourselves with stuff we know nothing about. I agree that these things affect us right down to the DNA level. It’s not the first time I heard of gender confusion due to chemical influence. Stilbestrol was given for morning sickness was thought to cause gender confusion in children. Now we give it to my female dog for urinary incontenance. Thanks for the question.

As laymen and I speak for my self its an interesting topic. As industrialized nations we have a fairly easy life at the expense of the environment and our health. There is no reason to get flack for this topic. We should question more stuff that we eat and smear on our selves. Lets talk about GMO foods , artificial sweeteners, lets all go vegetarian? The list and discussion is endless.

People are really divided on this. I know doctors who think it's perfectly safe, and I know doctors who think it's horrible. Interestingly enough, the doctor I trust the most and the pharmacist I trust the most both say the same thing: if you are going to use sunscreen, don't go about SPF 30. They both told me (independently of one another) that above 30, the amount of "junk" going into your system increases significantly, while the protection increases minimally.
That's interesting Craig, and pretty scarey
