Is Yoast Really Better Than All In One Seo?
Hi Everyone,
The subject of this blog post was originally my response to another thread here regarding Yoast but after thinking about it. I thought it might get more response in a separate blog so, I deleted it and posted it here
The following was my reply
Well, at the risk of being tarred and feathered here in a room full of Yoast fans, it seems to me that most people are switching because of the keyword density tool with the pretty lights but, is it just a shiny object?
I think Robert makes a good point in his training when he says, did Kyle teach this?
Perhaps there is a good reason why Kyle recommends All In One over Yoast,
Kyle seems to always have our best interest at heart and maybe he didn't want us wasting our time over things that don't really matter.
I also recently did a post on Twitter where I ask the question, Are You Obsessing Over Keyword Density and I linked out to the video below that is straight from the horses mouth, Matt Cutts
https://youtu.be/Rk4qgQdp2UA
Someone also mentioned that Yoast does a better job at displaying on social media but, the All In One has the social meta that can be activated for this and Jay just did a training on it and also explained how to configure it in his niche case study series.
So I guess my reservations are due to the question I have which is, is Yoast really better, or is it selling a pipe dream based on outdated and useless information
I guess that is for each one of us to decide on our own after reviewing all the facts.
So, what do you think?
To Our Success!
Forrest

Is one BETTER than the other? No! They are both just tools that help with SEO. They are not magic bullets.
If you follow the training and practice what is taught here at WA, you will do fine no matter which SEO tool you choose.
Try them both and pick the one you are most comfortable using. They both work.
Tom
Thanks for your input Tom, that sums it up rather nicely as lately there seems to be a lot of people migrating to Yoast and I tend to not be a bandwagon jumper without good reason.
Personally I live Yoast cause it's helped me better understand SEO. I now know exactly what I need to include and not have to have a great post. I really didn't understand before. But the green light thing is actually very helpful for SEO newbies like me ;-)
Hi Liz, thanks for the reply and I am glad you are enjoying Yoast but, that was kind of the reason for this post.
My original thoughts were, is it really helping anyone learn SEO if it is based on an outdated technique that no longer has merit as indicated by Robert in his training and also by Matt Cutts in his video.
Since then, I am learning that there are other features as well that I will have to look into further before finalizing my opinion.
Thanks for the comment
Hi Forrest - the best way is for a person to try for them selves as it only takes a few minutes to download and try
Thanks Paul, I am definitely going to at least try it on my test site and then perhaps use it on a new site that I have just started
I wrote an article about what Yoast does. Screenshots of yoast included with an explanation of each feature. Yoast doesn't have an affilite program so no affiliation here. http://thepocketfeeder.com/what-is-the-best-seo-tool-amazingly-free
There's also a good training that was done by JasonJG a while back. It's a bit out of date now after several updates. I agree with Kev. All in one seems to get good results for many here. I prefer Yoast cause I switched very early on.
I can tell you the sites I write for use it, so I'm glad I got to know it. It has many helpful features besides the ones mentioned already. Hope it helps. Geoff.
Thanks Geoff, I will be sure to check that one out as well.
You also make a very good point that if I got used to working with it on a different site, it would add to my skill set
what is the keyword density ? i havent seen that yet....i love the way it tells you about what kev said with the way you are writing etc...i have just realised the importance of sub headings in the content. the only thing i dont know how to do yet is put in my list of keywords like i used to do with all in one seo.....any hints or tips xoxox
Hi Tania, I have never used Yoast but, I was under the impression that it had a keyword density feature with colored lights that told you when you had used the keyword enough
cool...i will go and have a look.....i have alot of homework to do .....i go crazy...lol....xoxo thank you xoxo
Don't make yourself crazy, you have only been here for a short time so just focus on the lessons, it is sometimes too easy to get distracted and not focus on what really matters in the beginning.
True darling but i have it sorted .....all is good....all approved, verified and all sitemaps are done for all search engines.... :-)) GO YOAST....so much more easy that the all in one seo I think anyway xoxoxox THANK YOU HONEY :-)) xoxox
I always heard that yoast is toast. Just kidding. But they say it helps some that are new to blogging and SEO. Many swear over it but I have seen a lot go to yoast and come back to all in one.
For me, I will stick to the training here and use all in one. Thanks for the blog.
Interesting topic.
lol thanks Billy that is funny, there was a time that I said the same thing when a few months ago many people were having trouble with it after one of their updates that wasn't so good.
I have also been sticking with the training here and, I don't think that I would go through all of that to migrate an existing site but, working on a new site, I was thinking what would be the best way to go and hopefully this blog post will help with the decision.
I think there are strong arguments for and against for both of them. In the end, it comes down to personal preference. They both do the SEO job.
I am and always have been a Yoast fan, but this is because I am familiar with it. If I had been using All-In-One I would be on the opposite side of the fence.
Cheers Kev
Hi Kev, I see your point that they both do the job so it's all about what you are the most comfortable with so, other than that, there wouldn't be much of a reason to migrate from one to the other
Yoast has a new readability feature which has improved my writing. It gives you a list of changes you need to make to improve the readability of your posts, such as transitional word and passive voice and more.
Other than that I can't say there is an advantage of one over the other.
Cheers Kev
That sounds like it could be a useful feature, I originally thought the attraction was only because of the keyword density feature
I suggest you try it. Install it and write a post. You see everything below the post as you write. Just enter your keyword in the keyword field before you start writing. There are two tabs, one for SEO and one for readability.
There is more than just keyword density, they take into account headlines, word count, links, graphics etc
It has the green orange and red light indicating the level of SEO optimisation.
Cheers Kev
Yes, I have been thinking of installing it on my test site to play with it some but haven't had the chance yet but thanks for the info on that. If I get stuck, I know now who to PM :)
you are very welcome!! I think that Yoast Seo is a very powerful plugin and doing a great job. I like it.

Great video from Matt Cutts - makes sense really -
As with anything testing is the answer
Yes, you are right. Testing is always a good thing to do and the video straight from Matt does help to clear up any misinformation floating around and what he says is basically how we are being taught here at WA
Thanks for the comment
