Let's talk bacon
Howdy all,
Today I felt like talking about a fun topic, bacon! Almost everybody loves bacon and with myself coming from the lead pork producing state, I felt like this would be a good topic.
So fun fact about pork production. Did you know that all farms that have commercial pig production have advanced bio-security to ensure a healthy environment and a better end product. Disease is everywhere and there are always new diseases popping up, so by having the bio-security in place farms prevent mass disease from spreading and a large drop in production from happening. Along with tons of advanced bio-security, countless hours go in to giving the pigs a very balanced diet, along with all the logistics of getting the pig from the farm to your table.
Now once that tasty pig goes off to market it can be turned into amazing food products including magical bacon! So fun fact about bacon that you may not know. What many people think of as U.S. bacon is not the same across the pond. Over seas in the UK they refer to U.S. bacon as "streaky bacon." (My friends overseas, leave a comment telling me what you guys call it.) Now in my opinion I believe a nice hickory smoked bacon from the store is great, but nothing beats bacon from the local meat locker. Being smoked in house and processed much less, it leaves it with a beautiful hammy flavor to. Now please do let me know what you all think to be the best bacon and your favorite way of enjoying it.
