This is a question that everybody needs to be answered at one time or another.
According to a search that I conducted just recently here's the typical time frame. It may take from 4 days to 3-4 weeks before a brand new website can be crawled, indexed and ranked on Google, Bing, and Yahoo. That's a long time.

If you go to google webmaster, set your site up on there and crawl your site it is sometimes indexed the same or next day.
Click the link in the post and you will have a much faster way to get your website indexed.
Better yet just go here and you will see what I mean by faster.
