I have been following the training and have done my first post but i notice it is showing on the home page. I can't see it under the 'about me' page. Can you help please?

It seems to me that you have tried to create an "about me" page. But instead, you have created a blog post. Blog post will by default end up on your homepage as leomery explains in his answer.

Log into your WordPress backend and select pages , which is almost halfway down on the side menu. Click on create page and put your text on the page you created.

Thanks Roy, but I was following the training! Hmm, let me try what you have said.

That's the way things work with a blog. Your content (posts) will show on your blog roll (homepage).

Your about page is a seperate page. No content (posts) you publish will show on your About Page.

Ok, but the first blog post according to the training is supposed to be an introduction post that talks about what the website is about. So what do you suggest i do please?

If you want to have an introduction page that stays on your home page. The you will need to create what's called a Static Page.

This page will be the page people see when they come to your website.

However this means your blog posts will not appear as a blog roll on your home page anymore.

You will need to create a link within your menu so people can get to your blog page.

And I say that because having a static page with your blog roll below it - is theme dependent. Not all themes can do that.

I did a video a while back about creating a static page Instead of having a static page you can simply create a page that talks about your website. And then create a link within your top menu so people can read that page.

A link somehting like "About This Site".

Also when it comes to pages. You have to create a link and place it on your site. Where you put it up to you.

The reason is, pages do not automatically get posted, meaning they are not visable on your site without a link. Only post automatically get posted and are visable.

Now another option is creating what's called a sticky post. This is a post that will stay at the top of your blog roll.

Now when you add new posts they will simply be added to your blog roll and that sticky post will stay at the top of your blog roll.

I did a video of how to create a sticky post here. Hope this helps

You can do one if you like - but you don't have to

Thanks so much for your time Leo. I will go through the video.

You're welcome
