Jobless man found dead
So yesterday I talked about jobs been gone in a couple years.
Guess what?
One of my friend shared about his friend's colleague ending up dead after been sacked
Here is the story:

Met my friend last week and she shared a very sad story about her colleague who decided to take his own life after told of being retrenched.
My friend was working for this Fortune 50 company. She told me that colleague has been working for close to 10 years in the IT department and seems to be doing well.
So one day, this colleague of hers was called into a room with the presence of his boss and the HR.
They revealed they are moving part of the IT functions to another country and his position is no longer needed.
He is briefed on the compensation and was told not to return to his desk.
They will help him to clear his stuff at his desk and will pass to him at the lobby.
My friend shared that some of his colleagues who managed to catch up with him outside the office described him as unstable and depressed.
They came back to the office and share with the HR on his mental state.
But nothing happens.
There is no follow-up, no guidance or basic counseling being offered to him.
One week later, his wife found him dead in the bathroom.
It's a tragedy.

Me think it's humiliating to be send packing that way.

That is a sad story, Roderick and one that is repeated on a daily basis, all around the world.
If we place our security in the hands of others, we risk that happening at some stage in our careers.
Much better to take the reigns and create our own space.
