Localize Your Amazon Affiliate

Recently, I just read a great case-study blog by AlexSol about increasing your sales. You can read the blog here:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/alexsol/blog/this-...

In the comment, I've asked about whether we need to register in other Amazon affiliate as well even if it's not your main target audience.

For example:

Your main audience is from US, but usually people from Canada and UK come to your website too.

1. Your visitor is from US and click your amazon affiliate link to amazon.com and buy some things. You will EARN commission.

2. Your visitor is from UK and click your amazon affiliate link to amazon.com and buy some things. Notice that it is not amazon.co.uk

(Note: I copy my own example from the below question blog):

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/getting-started/sh...

If the UK visitors is directed to the US Amazon (the .com) and choose to go for the UK Amazon, you will lose commission from whatever the visitor purchase in the UK Amazon.

There are 2 solutions to this issue:

1. Apply to as many amazon associate as possible. If your website is in English, it is better to apply for Amazon US, Canada, and all the European Amazon.

2. Use a certain method to localize your Amazon affiliate link.

For the second solution, there is another problem rised: Do we need to insert EVERY respective Amazon affiliate link to our post? For example, if we apply to 5 Amazon associated, do we need to insert FIVE Call-to-Action buttons, which each button corresponds to each respective region?

Well, I don't think it is a good choice.

So far, I've came across TWO method for easily generating the localized link. This link, when generated, will direct the visitor to their respective local Amazon region website.

  1. The first one is Genius Link (which is not a wordpress plugin) and you can check it here: https://www.geni.us/how-it-works
  2. The second one is Easyazon Plugin and you can check it when you try to add a new plugin.

Genius Link have a free trial for 30 days. After that, you will need to pay IF your clicks exceeded 1000 clicks per month (Check their pricing).

On the other hand, Easyazon Plugin have a choice to stay free forever but they can only generate text link in the free version. You need to upgrade it to Pro Version if you want other feature like Image link, extended cookie, etc.

There is one downside with Easyazon, of which it needs your Amazon Secret Key to access the content of Amazon (similar to other auto-generated content plugin). I don't really know if giving Secret Key of your Amazon account is a good idea or not (P.S.: You need to pay after the first year in order to use the Key).

Since I just know about this thing, I haven't tried any of the method. Some of WA members use Genius link, while other use Easyazon.

If you have any comments about those, or even other alternatives, please share it in the comment section to help other members too :)

Cheers,

Ferdinand

Thanks for the information. So just wondering, if we apply to a number of different countries amazon affiliate program, we need to put each individual link in our blog? But if we use a plugin that generates the local link we do not need to use individual links in our blog? Thanks

Yes :) the link will automatically redirect the visitors to their respective amazon region.

Thank you, Ferdinand. I wondered about how to get better info on using Amazon.
Marcel...

You're welcome Marcus :) Checking where your audience come from is important when using Amazon as affiliate. Wish you success here :)

I remember Kyle and Jay saying that we can utilize the global market makes sense when its affiliate work as we do not need to worry about shipping etc

Wow thanks Katie for the information. I just heard about it now. Affiliating with several amazon associates should benefit all of us :)

Bookmarking! Great question! :)

Thanks and you're welcome :)

This is something that I have been looking for a while now! Thanks a lot for sharing these two options and I'll be sure to look into them :)

A link localizer will really help someone like me in the UK, who has about 60-70% US traffic, but still 30-40% traffic of other nationalities. At the moment I'm using the Amazon US Associates, as that's where most of my traffic is coming from, but that means I can't monetize 30-40% of my traffic with Amazon!

Anyway, best of luck!
James

You're welcome James. I didn't aware about this matter until.recently. I thought I will receive commission from any people who was brought in the Amazon regardless of they change the site to their local Amazon site.

Best of luck and success too :)
